Trump said, "Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy."
There is no evidence to support this. Clinton supporters circulated the rumor in the last days of the 2008 Democratic primary and after Clinton had conceded to Obama. But the record does not show Clinton or her campaign ever promoting the birther theory, let alone starting it.
We rate Trump’s claim False.

Chalk this up to another one of those questions that will never be answered. I asked who on VN hated JG because he was black......never got an answer to that one. Evidently there are a lot of JG racist haters but I can't seem to get one called out. I don't think I have ever seen anything Trump said or posted that when read in full context was really racist.

Yes, this is the new standard.

Democrats’ racist statements or attitudes can be overlooked because it is assumed their intentions are pure. Republicans don’t actually have to make a racist statement or hold a racist attitude, but it’s OK to label them a racist because it’s assumed that is what is in their heart.

This is why Trump wasn’t a racist until he had an R by his name.

It’s also why Joe Biden, who has made some outright racist statements, is not labeled as a racist. He’s still a legit player in the party. He’s got the D by his name.

The most surprising thing to me is how good the branding has been. People will line up to call Trump a racist. Many of the same people have read the multiple Biden statements and wouldn’t say the same about him.

There’s an article out now saying he received some “hate mail” at the set of Empire. He was ticked off it didn’t get enough attention in the media so he concocted this plan to stage a hate crime. Another article reporting a civil rights activist in LA is now calling for Smollet to apologize and tell the truth. Also advocating for his prosecution.

I would be first in line to say that Trump scores much higher on the racist continuum than does Biden.
