I'm just wondering from what i hear is that the staff we have now will not recruit as well as the last one, so my main question is...Will we have a top ten class and bring in lots of talent or will we fall off the map and recruit the smaller guys? Thanks to anybody that has any input.....Go Vols!

i think the staff will recruit just as well.....it will just be a different type of student athlete than what the previous staff was looking for

I think this class will be a better indicator of how good this staff may be(excluding Thompson and Chaney who have a history here). Last year I think they were left scrambling for guys who weren't originally on our radar so to speak. It's unfortunately more or less a wait and see, but I hope they can get it done, we need them to.

If we can get the top athletes AND those who are focused on winning, then we are in for a really good run. That is, IF our fans can be patient enough to not try to run Dooley off before he has had a chance to get HIS players into the system. This could take 2 or 3 years though.

Does anyone believe that our fans will be that patient?:ermm:

He did bring in Rogers,Stone, and Hunter in 2 and a half weeks he was here. So give him a year and i think it will be ok

It is hard to tell how good this staff will really be able to recruit because it is a staff full of unknown recruiters. I think we will be fine though. Consistent top 10 classes.

CDd, clt and cjc are good recruiters and I believe that good recruiters can recognize other good recruiters and obviously recognize the need for good recruiting, so until something screams otherwise I'm going to believe these guys have found other good ones.

Next year will probably be a little heavy on OL which tend to rate lower so that may hurt the ranking a little next year.

11'?
An eleven foot recruiting class?

It will be a class full of midgets and that will be the combined height of the recruiting class.

All of them will play with tremendous leverage and pad-level but will be terrible in jump ball situations.

I hope this is true.

We need to build a dominant D line during the next 3 years. I guess it'll have to start in the '11 class.

Good news is we have a great start at end. It's just our tackles that are, well, nonexistent. A couple jucos next year could do wonders for the defense.

We won't have nearly as much success landing high profile guys next year because of several reasons. First we need so many linemen on both sides of the ball that it may drag our overall ranking down. Second, I don't think Dooley and his staff will play in the gray areas of recruiting that Kiffin and his crew did; I think DD will try to run a clean and respectable program. Third, I think we are going to take a more regionally focused approach and probably not shoot for the moon on some prospects; in other words I think we fill our needs early with good talent instead of pursuing some bigger prospects and possibly missing out on need positions. I don't think Dooley will be in the press nearly as much as Kiffin because our former coach was a lightening rod for the media; some recruits like that though.

The good news is I think we will fill all our needs with good players and occasionally land great players that want to be at UT. I think the recruits we do land will be less risky academically and for off the field trouble.

Completely disagree. Our recruiting will be much better. You don't have to play in the gray areas to be successful. Saban, meyer, mack brown, none of these guys have a bad rep and they are outstanding recruiters. Fulmer in his prime was outstanding. We should and will go after the very best players out there and will get our share. Lt and cdd have done before and I expect no less now.

Our class will not be so heavy with linemen to hurt it. We have 14 olinemen on the roster. A team typically carries around 16. Unless they have decided a bunch of the guys can't play, I don't think you'll see a mass exodus or more than 3-4 olinemen taken. We have 15 dlinemen on the roster. A boatload of ends and a desperate need for dtackles. But I don't think your going to see them sign 6dtackles. They might if they could get that many quality guys, but reality is good dtackles are rare and everyone wants them. If we get more than 4 I'll be happily suprised. The amount of linemen should not affect our class ranking.

Cdd and co. With a full year to recruit will go after the best, they evaluate well and they will sign a top notch class. They better not be passing on the homerun players, because I guarantee that all the teams we play every year- fl, al, ga, will not be passing on them.

I am a long time reader and greatly appreciate the knowledge from the posters over the years. One thing that I might have missed but is worried me as I read the articles on recruits that have currently been offered, most, if not all, have stated they have not heard from the current staff. I may not be aware of the rules, etc., but, do any of you know something about this I do not?

Excellent Question! I have wondered the same thing myself... hopefully someone can give some insight.
