I've got a friend who teaches SPED. They moved and enrolled their oldest in a private Christian school. They start in September, are out by mid may. She was blown away and said she doesn't know wtf is wrong in public schools going the first of August until the first of June.

What kind of school starts in July??

They go back Aug 2nd but they get a week in Oct, a full week for Thanksgiving, a week in Feb, and a few half days here and there. My wife would rather have a longer summer and work right through. She thinks the breaks are better for the kids . It gives them time to "regroup" and they don't forget as much over a 2 month summer, compared to a 3 month summer.

It might be silly, but I just booked a room downtown near Centennial Park. We're going to the aquarium one day, and the children's museum te next. It's only a 45 min drive each way(depending on traffic). Saves on gas, breakfast(buffet) and free aquarium tickets fo rmy wife and me are included. We'll just have to pay for the kids. The balcony will overlook Centennial Park. If we're high enough, we can see the fountain show with lights at night.
