The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

My biggest gripe about basketball is that the refs have too much influence.

It is brutal in the NCAA. I don’t care for the NBA, it’s too robotic. But those refs are held accountable and are consistent. With the NCAA crews it’s like a box of chocolates (you don’t know what you’re going to get).

NCAA refs are the biggest factor in every evenly matched game.

For a game that has become perimeter oriented, it starts and ends with the fact that there is a beast for UConn waiting in the paint for anyone who decides to take the ball near the basket.

Little things make the difference. Miami had cut the lead to eight, UCONN misses a shot, Miami had the opportunity to get possession and cut it to 5 or 6 on the other end. Instead, UCONN gets the offensive rebound and the easy put back. Now they’re on cruise control again.

They’re the ultimate boom or bust program. This would be five titles in 25 years, but they’ve also missed the tournament nine times in that same period.
Where do I sign up for that? Nine missed tournaments over 25 years with 5 championships sprinkled in here and there. And those nine missed tournaments would be so mentally relaxing.

That's the most dominant run that i've seen. There ain't one shining moment from their tourney.

Just a bunch of whuppins.

I think Villanova was even more impressive in 2018. Uconn had a great great tourney (obv) but played only one top three seed (which was a 3), and Timme was in tacky tack foul trouble early even then.

Classy move by Nance to not make the end of the game all about him. Unlike Keith Jackson s***ing all over TN in January 1999. Then that jack wagon “unretired”.

UCONN always seem to find a way to the top the last 25 years.

I always love the tournament reflections after the game.

Man I know the persecution narrative is tired, but I'd have liked seeing even a single one of our players in One Shining Moment. Especially when our R32 game was one of the bigger stories of that round. Some cheerleaders and Barnes looking upset made it

There were so many Arkansas clips too. Maybe next year Barnes should take his shirt off and jump on the scorers tables after we win in March lol
