He has hopes of unseating a black man. Proably wants to lower taxes, too. Clearly he's a racist.

leave it to CNN to take gratuitous shots at Bush over Katrina and Iraq prior to the Surge

My question is if Bush is responsible for Katrina, is Obama responsible for the Nashville floods?

don't forget the Kentucky ice storm, the Iceland volcano, earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, and the oil spill.

Daniels has some attractive qualities.

The author misses the boat though when he talks about policies that turned surpluses into deficits. The economy did that. Later policies may have made matters worse but those surpluses were vapor regardless of policy.

In all seriousness, I'm very concerned about the GOP's candidate in 2012...

It's too early to be concerned yet. A lot can happen over the next 10-12 months. Your concern needs to be poured into Novembber this year.

I was Romeny in 08 and as of now will support him in 2012, assuming he runs.

The concern was more about not being able to find someone who could beat Obama.

If the economy turns around, Reagan couldn't beat him.
Agreed, which is unfortunate, considering it's unlikely that a turnaround would be related to his policies.

That being said, if the economy was turned around, I couldn't really complain, regardless of how i happened.

Bobby Jindal or JC Watts and maybe a dark horse and maybe a little early for him but Paul Ryan would be great.
Didn't Jindal make a bad impression with his speech a year ago? I know it was just one thing but it seemed like it would hurt his chances.

Jindahl's speech was poor but his handling of the oil spill stuff is top notch. I saw him interviewed and it was pretty impressive - night and day from that Blanco broad.

The speech will have been 3 years in the past by the next election year, anyways.

it's depends what you define as turn around. the economy is going to recover to some degree no matter what obama does.

to some degree it has to, but the cyclical nature of it says it's likely to get decent to solid before the next election. That bodes poorly for several reasons.

First, some idiots are going to proclaim his policies as overwhelmingly successful, though none will have had time to truly impact anything, and claim Obama responsible for the recovery.

Second, the next round of socialist moves with likely trump this round.

Third, SC will probably get another disaster because unlikely we turn around the Senate in the next three elections.

I'm not as pessimistic as you are on that.
