But within two years the anti-progressive/anti-fusion movement (PUNK) emerged and totally brought RnR back into it.
I love some Genesis, Yes, etc. but PUNK was a direct reaction to 7+ minute songs with elaborate structures and endless solos.
That morphed into New Wave and of course Rap emerged in the mid/late seventies.
You can't leave out the massive music change that occurred in the second half of the 70s.

YOu have to remember, Genesis went to a pop sound behind Phil Collins. It made me vomit, but they sold records and reached out to new audience. Yes did sort of the same thing with 90215, and Owner (which also made my vomit), but they kind of stayed into the progressive sound, only limiting the song length. Trevor Rabin had a big impact on their crossover
