Good to see Jeff Bridges finally get one, and The Hurt Locker win all those awards. Absolutely one of the best movies I've seen in years.

I still dont understand this. There were 50 other actresses in that room that could have played that role just as well if not better.

didn't see the movie but my fiancée did. said there is no way that performance was Oscar worthy.

It was an average performance, from an average actress playing an average role in an average movie. Nothing more nothing less.

I think the academy should really look at the degree of difficulty when handing out nominations. White Hollywood guilt won that award, not Bullock.

from all the clips I saw, that girl from Precious should have won easily.

What was up with Mo Nique saying something to the effect of, "Its important to do what's right, and this was right."

You were in a movie honey, its not life and death.

I thought this was just another example of the L.A. crowd taking themselves wayyyyy too seriously. Self absorbed, the whole lot of em' I say.

I didn't watch all of the show, but I caught this part. What the heck did her husband mean by "don't do what's popular but do what's right?" Isn't being an actor in a movie "popular"?

It just provided proof that they view themselves far more important than they actually are. She was so over dramatic about it during her little speech, and it made her seem silly. Of course, I think most of them are guilty of doing this from time to time.

As far as her husbands comment to her, I dont know what in the heck he was talking about. She should take whatever role she can get. I doubt she's turning them down left and right to maintain her dignity and pride of doing what's "right".

i pretty much feel the same way. i would even go as far to say that i thought her portrayal of the character detracted from the movie in some scenes. i don't know, i was just never was crazy about here playing that part for some reason. overall, it was a pretty average perfomance IMO.

Plus, Avatar wasn't THAT great.

it was good........but that's about it really. it was an eye candy movie with great special effects and a 3D friendly atmosphere. as far as being a movie with actual substance it wasn't anything spectacular.

pretty sure they were talking about the film's content that they chose to depict. not themselves

Friend of mine who went to Ole Miss said Bullock nailed the part. I'm inclined to believe her. Not that I don't consider y'all experts on the dialect and characteristics of southern women from that region.

Anyone else notice that they left Farrah Fawcett out of the Tribute?

you know, i'd thought they had left some people out, but wasn't quite sure who

i did think though the james taylor music worked well with that part of the show though

I love that song but not sure it went well either. I mean, no offense Michael Jackson was not an actor...why did they have him on there?!?!

Did anyone else notice the Home Alone kid when they did the tribute to John Hughes?
