1. Tennessee only has themselves to blame. They went 7-14 from the line, missed about five layups, and took too many 3's.

2. Jordan McRae picked the wrong time to have the worst game of the season. He never got going.

3. Jimmy Dykes kept saying it, and he was right. Tennessee couldn't guard the high ball screen. Releford feasted on the abysmal effort on defense by the UT bigs today.

4. Bernard King Player of the Game: Josh Richardson. Richardson did a good job on Releford, he just had no help. He also provided 16 points and five boards. He also had three assists and two steals. He was everywhere today.

5. Plus nine. That's how many more three pointers UT took instead of free throws. When UT settled for three, they played right in the hands of Bama.

6. Bama's full court press didn't do much from a stat perspective. However, it completely took UT's rhythm offensively. They got in their offense way too late too many times. UT tried to run it up, but Bama just moved too fast for them.

7. UT did not cut to the basket when Jarnell was doubled team. They've done this twice. They are going to play zone and double Jarnell. And again, the players stood around. I don't know if that's coaching or lack of player awareness. But that has got to get fixed. UT has shot teams out of zones plenty this season, but when they don't, they are in trouble.

8. I don't know why Trae Golden didn't attack the paint. We was way too content today.

9. I did like that UT did a great job in the last ten minutes on defense, but their offense just didn't help them. Bama only shot 41% from the field. Lower than I thought. But the offense just disappeared.

10. I might be biased, but I think UT should get in despite today's performance. But alas, we don't know. We all will just have to sit and wait till Sunday night. I hope UT gets in.

Number don't lie
"The Volunteers have had 19 NCAA tournament appearances with an overall record of 12-17. A record of 9-7 in the first round, 3-5 in the second, and 1-4 in the regional semi finals. They have also been invited to the National Invitation Tournament 11 times.

They have won nine regular season SEC championships in 1936, 1941, 1943, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 2000, and 2008. The 1972, 1977, 1982, and 2000 seasons were all shared championships with another team from the Southeastern conference. Their conference tournament record is 54-43 record with 4 championships in the years 1936, 1941, 1943, and 1979."

What's your take on his coaching moves/ strategy today?

Bama's guards were quicker.. High ball screened us to death. Once again they didn't adjust anything to try to stop it.. They had no answers. Haven't had any answers to that all year..

We could have pressured their guards more. They had to easy of a time getting the look they wanted. Then we compounded it by rushing our possessions and taking bad shots, apparently in an effort to make up for our poor defense. And we do not have a rebounder. We really need some size and athleticism, badly.
Overall it was a tough game. But still a good season. GOVOLS.

It could have been better. We didn't adjust to the ball screen till too late when the guards should have gone over the screen, not under. When you go under the screen, you create more opportunities to switch, which UT shouldn't have done with all the 1-5 ball screens. Bama has no pick-n-pop bigs. No need to screen. They also should have dropped further from the weakside to pick up the action and forced the three point shot.

I thought Cuonzo did a good job adjusting that in the second half. There was more of a concerted effort to get the ball in the paint in the second half. UT shot 13 3's in the first, 10 in the second. Jordan missed about 3 of those he normally hits. And UT did a good job breaking the press. Only 10 TO's. Bama just zoned really well. I felt that UT did not overload the zone enough. Martin should have called more weakside action plays.

Overall, it doesn't matter if you're Wade Houston or Bob Knight, when your team shoots 35% from the field and 5-23 from three, you are in big trouble.

I wish we would have extended our defense. Not full court or even half court, but applied more ball pressure and force tougher shots.

10 4 I think you have to credit ala defense and coaching. Their guards penetrated and were quick and aggressive. 10 turnovers is better than it has been but still too many in my eyes as more than a few were unforced/ just stupid mistakes

If you told me Bama was going to press for 40 minutes, and UT would only turn the ball over 10 times three hours ago, I would have been ecstatic.

Either way, this **** happens after every loss (not you in particular, just in general, I appreciate your question).

But everyone, after every loss, especially one with such a young unproven coach in Cuonzo Martin, goes after the coach. It's the simple thing to do other than say Alabama was better than UT today. If McRae goes 6-12 and doesn't foul out instead of 3-12 and fouling out, UT probably wins.

I thought we handled their press pretty well. But with that said, I don't think we turned enough of those press breaks into easy buckets. More than a few times we had 2-on-1's or 3-on-2's after breaking the press. We didn't turn enough of those situations into baskets.

If we had, it might have forced them to ease up their press and allow us to get into the aforementioned offensive rhythm that we so lacked.

You act as if you would ever say anything different lol.

It is what it is man. If you think we were properly prepared for a team that was in our conference and we had already played twice this season, please explain how so? Did we not think Bama would play a zone? No one attacked the zone all freaking game. Pass around the perimeter and jack up a bad shot.

YES. Thank God for the few reasonable posters around here.

Why does it have to be all Cuonzo's fault? Bama was trying to win too, and they simply were better today. It was one basketball game.

As you said, Jordan had some wide open looks down the stretch, and a few of them would have cut that lead to 3. He usually, no, ALWAYS makes those. He didn't today, but if he did, the outcome may have been different.

I do not believe Martin was outcoached today. I believe our players failed to execute. I also prefer Martin to Grant. Just my take.

Posted this in the other postgame report, but I'll put it here as well.

The only positive to take away is the fact we did adjust our offensive gameplan at halftime. We worked the ball into the paint off the drive or pass more in the 2nd half. We just didn't make shots. We missed enough layups and FTs to lose three games. We looked scared to death bringing the ball up against their press.

If I'm an opposing coach, the blueprint for beating us is in this game film. Zone us on defense, press us after made baskets, and keep us out of the paint.*It's really a simple plan, and we fell victim to it many times early in the season, as well as today. We settled for too many 3's early, and dug a hole we couldn't get out of because of silly fouls, TOs, and a general disinterest and lack of purpose.

All in all, another disappointing loss in the SEC tournament in a game we could have won with a little more effort and urgency.

They were 50% from the line, and missed the front end of one and one's a couple of times...

We cant get new/better players until next season. Stuck with who we have for the rest of this year.
