The Alabama Postgame Report

I rarely see any games live anymore due to the kids activities. Yesterday it was baseball practice. The DVR is my best friend and I have mastered the art of avoiding any scores.

Sounds like me. I work second shift so I always dvr them, then avoid certain friends texts and the internet. I have only failed once in 2 years of avoiding the score. Lol

Jordan's TOs are largely excusable because he is being asked to do something that is obviously not natural.

Trae needs to remember how to shoot FTs, or he literally may not play more thank spot minutes, esp down the stretch. Even when he can't do anything else right, he's always been a reliable FT shooter. That has obviously changed. He can be an asset down the stretch in close games by being the 80%+ FT shooter he once was.

Jarnell really played well. Probably his best game as a Vol, and Jacobs and Mousse are both pretty good defenders and rebounders. He largely owned them.

Armani Moore...if the freshman jitters and youthful mistakes are ever worked out, what a steal he will be. He just makes plays on both ends. He is a capable defender who is improving his on-ball defense to match his help defense. He is also efficient as a shooter. He seems to recognize good shots from bad shots.

This team got the "late game" monkey off their back, even if it was with the help of a questionable call. We have had some go against. About time one went in our favor. I'd like to think Martin finally speaking up in defense of his team to the officials played a role in that.

The most amazing thing is, we beat a team with far superior guard play. Trevor Releford is a really good PG who doesn't have many glaring weaknesses. What would our team be like with him running the show?

1. Jordan McRae deserved incredible praise for his season. I never thought he could handle full time PG duties and he's doing fine considering. It's lame, he doesn't care, and sounds too fanatic, but I'm proud of him.

2. Trae needs to go to the film room and remember what works for him: Take the ball to the hole. When he's driving, he's a completely different player.

3. Jarnell played his best game, and his D was great. I wish teams wouldn't double him.

4. Imagine the defense in 2.5 years with Yemi, Moore, and Richardson.........dear God.

5. A win is a win. Take it.

6. Good point guard play and this is probably 13-14 win team right now. Trae's number in losses:

25-80 FG/6-29 from 3/11-19 FT
Slash line: 31.3%/20.6%/57.8%

26.8 mpg
8.4 ppg
2.5 apg
3.17 topg

Just...ugh.

Agree, esp the part about Trae. Stick with what works and if your shot isn't falling, involve your teammates more.

Didn't mean to step in on ya for the OM game. Didn't see a report the following day, and thought you may have had to work with the game being midweek. No intention of imposing. Good report, as usual, from you.

Nope, no problem at all. I had work that Thursday night and then Friday afternoon, and by the time I would have sat down and wrote one, it would been 16 hours till the bama game. Thanks for covering for me, it was a good job.

I changed my mind. Last play was a good no call. Yeah, Stokes was moving towards the shooter. But, he could have attempted a FG that would not have been blocked. Instead, he leaned into the defender with the sole objective of drawing a foul. Fouls at the last second should only be called when they affect the ability to attempt a shot, IMO. The Bama player chose getting fouled over attempting a shot.
