The announcers had it wrong concerning Peyton/Titan fans

you do whatever you want. I believe that you go with whatever nfl/college team you have the most allegiances/history with.

Years of watching just college when I was a kid put me in a state of mind where I cheer for them like hell when they're at the university, but once they graduate they're gone; they were still part of UT and that was something I felt to be very proud of, but UT moved on with the next set of players and they were now what UT was.

I grew up with the titans though as my nfl team. I saw them dominate the falcons in 99, was at the music city miracle against buffalo - which as a 6th grader was amazing/almost inspiring to have given up all hope and the team comes back in the last second - saw them come just short in that super bowl (that last effort by mcnair with that guy trying to tackle him really raised him in my books), and really followed mcnair and george and even now collins and company since

Dont get me wrong, i still really like manning. he's a great player and he's a well representative of the university and he would probably make the colts my 2nd team, but to me the UT alliance goes as far to cheer for good things for him, not to make them my favorite team

Of course, the main thing is you cheer for the team that fits you and who you have the most ties or history with.

One last thing I'd like to add though is that i dont think at all it's the titans v vols in this state, they are both TENNESSEE's teams and both represent and play for this state

I thought I was the only one to remember that stuff. It seemed like they were actively trying to piss UT fans off.

Bud Adams, also took the name Tennessee Titans vs. Nashville Titans so he could use the "T".

well at least if I'm crazy someone is sharing it with me :p

biggest difference is the players wearing orange on Saturdays made the choice to represent Tennessee. The ones on Sunday are paid to do it.

yeah the whole college v pro thing, i get it. Alot of those ncaa players are playing to make money later too, not just uni. love

i think that was the point though of "we don't compete. They play college and we play pro." You can like them both. the titans arent trying to steal the vols thunder nor disgrace the university. They just wanted fans to cheer for them. They're not at all trying to compete with UT and take away it's fans or anything. Both sides still like the state, both the pros and the college kids, and both represent it.

You didn't hear/see what was said when they came to TN. There was some disdain for UT and the Vol fans. The only reason they represent the state is because they are paid million to do so. Or do you really believe that Tiger Woods only drives a Buick?

A person who chooses to represent the Univ of TN has much more respect in my book.

I live in Nashville so the choice is easy for me. I see no reason to pull for the Colts or Peyton just because he played for the Vols over a decade ago. If I pulled for teams with former UT players on their roster I would have been a fan of every team at some point in time.

I know there are some Tennessee fans that pull for Peyton over the Titans but I'm not one of them. The announcers sounded as if everyone in Tennessee pulled for Peyton's Colts over the Titans.I like Peyton when he's not going against the Titans.

Let me guess... Kornholio was trying to make this point, right? Sounds like something he would say...

He's a condescending Northeast liberal and has no connection with fly-over states anyways.

Judging from your previous post to this one you were probably too young to know that the Titans (who at the time were still called the Oilers) angered a lot of people to the point they won't ever be fans of their team. Its great you like them, but for those of us in our thirties or older think Fisher, George and Bud Adams can go to hell.

I personally always liked the Steelers and Packers.

who are you to tell me who i can and can not cheer for? personally i'm a cowboys fan, but regardless, peyton is possibly the greatest of all time. i enjoy watching him play. cheer for the titans i don't care, and neither should you care about who i want to cheer for

but peyton isn't here anymore. the titans are and they are dominating on the field

Any one who wants to pull for someone who played here years ago , go ahead . As far as the TITANS not being Tennessees Pro team , just look in the stands .

GO TITANS
