That is actually a very good top 25....particularly the top 10. I actually have USC at number 5 and then their 4/5 in my 3/4. But, I think that I may be too hard to USC and too good to West Virginia.

Florida and TN the only SEC teams in the top ten...seems like old times.

does anybody not think Florida is really good anymore?

I would love a chance to play that game again, but hey hopefully we can get revenge at the swamp next year

I was at the LSU game and let me tell you, Florida is good. But, Florida is NOT great. Those two teams were very evenly matched athletically. But combine home field advantage with a ton of errors (forced and unforced) by LSU and Florida comes out ahead.

Look at it this way. Florida outscored LSU 9-3 in the second half. All nine of those points came in the first 2:55 of the third quarter of the muffed kick off reception by them that resulted in a safety.

But after that, Florida could not generate any sustained offense at all. No running game to speak of, really.

What is going to happen to the Gators when things go the other way? When the other team is geting the breaks and the Gators are self-destrucing? Auburn is pissed right now and they cannot lose again and know it.

The game at Auburn this coming weekend will define Gator football for the next few years. Either success and set things up, or failure and join the ranks of the other 20 also-rans.

I dont know, LSU really shot themselves in the foot.... repeatedly, just as Bama did at the end of that game. They are good though, but I still wont have to give them credit though, just cause they are the gators. What is increasingly clear to me is that we are pretty good ourselves, and could have won that game.

When do you think the critical calls will stop going UF's way?

That holding call that took LSU's second TD off the board was ridiculous as was the phantom blow to the head... LSU did its own part to be sure but both calls and especially the holding call changed the game and shook LSU up after they fumbled away their second chance.

I think the Miles effect is taking hold sooner than I thought it would. That team is extremely talented but undisciplined. They'll still be a force this year and could really be a spoiler for UT but I definitely think they are beginning a decline.

I was at the game too. I agree with LG. I think UF is a good team that has been getting the breaks when they needed them and capitalized. So far, it's just been the Gators' year.

Too bad we will probably never surpass Texas. They have no one left on their schedule. Maybe Missouri can give them a game in the Big 12 championship. Either that, or we impress the pollsters with a win over LSU. At this point, I'd say we are the most accomplished 1 loss team. The Longhorns have beaten no one except Oklahoma, who in turn has beaten no one.

Also, we nearly beat the Gators, the Horns were dominated by OSU.

Anything can happen if UT somehow wins out, but we might be thinking about the last first down that we couldn't get until next year's game.

I dont think we need to jump texas, because they will get the conference bid. We are pretty much playing for an at large.

we still have to beat bama, lsu, and arkansas, not to mention so. carolina, if we want to worry about BCS. win our games and it'll take care of itself.

Yup. I do think the team deserves credit for capitalizing. And that matters in football. If everyone executed at 100% of capcity, it would be a pretty boring game!! But wacky things happen and that accounts for so much of the entertainment value for us fans.

I don't know how much they showed of it on tv, but Tebow just plain changes the dynamic. Besides the two semi-trick plays that led to touchdowns, when the guy comes in you can see the defensive players all changing assignments at the line and prepearing. And the guy will still pummel into the scrum and drag a defensive player or two for another 4 yards even when he does get hit.

And then he gets up and as he is running off the field he is exhorting the crowd to get pumped and excited. He absolutely loves the game and is having a tremendous time out there and its infectious.

If he stays healthy, I fully predict that he will win the Hesiman at some point.

A very fair assessment LG. At this point in the season Florida has the best defense in the SEC. I honestly thought they would spend too much time on the field against LSU. That was not the case at all.

I dont like Louisville and WV being ranked so high. Half the teams in the SEC would be undefeated right now playing their schedule. Again, with the NCAA system you are continually rewarded by playing a weak schedule because there is no tournament.

I like what I see in that poll....Maybe in the coming weeks if the cards fall right we could be in the top 5..What do ya'll think?

I give a game ball to our punter, who nailed them with several 50+ yarders and to the much maligned Gator secondary who picked off three interceptions. LSU QB had, if memory serves from what I read, 84 consecutive passes without an interception -- and we got three!!

I don't think so.

UF still has to beat an Auburn team that is embarrassed and desperate plus an UGA team in that same boat that will have resolved alot of problems before they play.

Not only can UT play for the SECCG, they can still get into the NC hunt. They are well positioned for a one loss team.

The only reason UT and Texas have one loss is because they played Ohio State and Florida. Does anyone think Louisville and WV would be undefeated if they would have had either team on their schedule? I personally think neither team could win the east or west in the SEC.
