The AP Poll got it right, Vols #8

They beat Oklahoma, but it wasn't as convincing as the 18 point margin would indicate. OU was up 10-7 in the 3rd quarter before they started laying the ball on the ground.

You are not allowed to divide your conference into divisions and have a championship game unless you have 12 teams. Thus, the Big 11, Pac 10, and the rest can't do it.

Oklahoma hasn't managed to beat anyone of note. They almost beat Oregon, who almost managed to not look like women against Cal. Tennessee made the Golden Bears wish they had just forfeited and saved money on the plane trip to Knoxville.

I think we'll jump Texas in the BCS rankings when they come out.....With or without another loss from them....I think they could lose though, do they have to play Mizzou? I know they usually play Texas Tech and Texas A&M....They could lose one of those 3 games

They'll probably end up playing Mizzou in the Big 12 Championship. Maybe that game will end up being more than the usual scrimmage for the Oklahoma/Texas winner.

Ok... but don't you think they are hesitant to do it? Big 10 could easily add Notre Dame in the mix and have a really good conference. But I think they are afraid to ruin their chances of having OSU or Michigan competing for the title each year.

Not to mention Notre Dame, and the most over-rated college football program in the country would NEVER agree to it.

Pac-10 is in the same boat, that conference is weak and their governing board knows it. But I will say I don't know who the other two teams would be.

and don't get me started on the Big East, they don't deserve a BCS bid at all.

I do think all the conferences should have a championship game. It would almost be like adding in a little playoff game for each conference. Obviously, after the Vols' misfortune in 2001, other conferences aren't overeager to add in championship games. I still like that the SEC has it. It adds a little more prestige to winning the conference.

I think the Big Ten is open enough to the idea of adding Notre Dame, it's just that ND absolutely refuses to join a conference. Their status as a major independent is way too lucrative. Their BCS money would probably be cut in half if they joined the Big Ten, it'd cost them millions.

As for who the Pac-10 adds, the conference enjoys the fact that every single school is at or near being the best in the country at what they do. When you look at total NCAA championships in all sports, the list is plastered with Pac-10 schools. There aren't really any other schools on the west coast that could contribute like that. I know the conference does some associative memberships for other sports, maybe it'd be possible with football... Fresno State and Boise State out of the WAC seems the most obvious choice.

It's not an easy thing adding teams, it's been almost 40 years since that's happened. The only time I know of the Pac-10 making an attempt was trying to add Texas after the SWC collapsed.

No, send every team in the Pac 10 to the wac, except USC who should join the Big East.

BCS money cut in 12ths.
