The argument that Dooley inherited a mess, and that he has us going in the right direction went right out the window last night. They were never legit arguments in the first place, but now the proof is there for all to see. The team Dooley inherited would not have given up 48 points to Troy at home. Not even with Dooley coaching. We're not moving in the right direction. Fact is, we're nowhere close to competing in the SEC. We're less competitive than we were in Dooley's first season. We've become Hal Mumme's Kentucky teams. Score a ton of points with nothing to show for it.

Considering 5 coaches turned us down before dooley accepted it and all the lane kiffin stuff, and us being inestigated by ncaa.. yes it was a mess

There was never a good argument for hiring Dooley.. Mike Hamilton knew he was gone anyway. This was his final "up yours" to the fan base after basically calling them all rednecks... With a assist from his Buddy Jimmy...

This is Dooley's defense. He is the head coach, hired the defensive coordinator to implement it, and oversees the final product. MAKE NO MISTAKE. The defense is Dooley's responsibility.

Ah, the ole "nobody else wanted the job, so we should thank Dooley for just being here". Of all the pro-Dooley arguments, this one is the dumbest by a wide margin.

You're post is just wrong in so many ways. I am not a fan of dooley. But to say were less competitve is stupid. We have been in positionn to win 4 of our 5 losses.

How is it dumb? you, among others, always cry about not getting a big name coach and all this but that fact of the matter is no big name coach wanted to come here, and we will find that out again after this year

The 5 coaches affect Dooley's job performance in no way. The NCAA imposed no sanctions on our football program. Lane Kiffin hurt Dooley's first recruiting class somewhat with the timing of his departure and trying to sabotage our recruiting on the way out.

He inherited a sloppy situation that had the potential to be what he tries to claim it was. He didn't come into a team on probation. There is not one thing you can point to and say "This is proof that we are on our way back."

Stop making excuses, and go cook Vince his breakfast, Mama Dooley.

Here is the reality of the situation: OBama has performed poorly and is in over his head. He blames much of his troubles on Bush or the current Replublicans in the House or Senate. HE WILL BE RE ELECTED:::
He will lose the popular vote but will win the Electoral College.

Dooley has performed poorly and is in over his head. Blame is put on Kiffin, Fulmer and Hamilton for the reasons for Dooley's issues. HE WILL BE THE U.T. FOOTBALL COACH IN 2013. He will lose his teams support and most of the fans support but the Powers That Be will keep him in place.

Do y'all see the similiarities?????

I can't believe the secondary has gotten worse. The secondary coaches are unproven and it shows. Not that any other unit on the team is playing great. I am now in disbelief in the difference from NC St to Troy. Gotten worse

We are not less competitive. Under Dooley we have NEVER been competitive. We are three years in with 0 -5 at the end of October in SEC each year. We were SO close argument is BS. You either win or you lose.

I absolutely see the similarities, and I agree. Dooley will be back. Dooley will sadly, most likely coach out the remainder of his contract. Things will get worse.

I don't have any problem with sticking with Dooley for next season but we have to clean house on the defensive side of the ball and get a DC and Assistants that can at least put a decent defense on the field. With an average defense we probably beat both SC and Georgia and are 6 and 3 right now.

No one is making excuse. You have no idea what you're talking about.

1. We were possibly getting hit with a lack of institutional control pentalty.
2. Lane kiffins class he recruited here was terrible. Half of the class was gone before dooley took over. And then the way he left effected recruiting the next year as well.

I'm not saying I like dooley or he has done anything good. But "sloppy" is a huge understatement of what our program was when he took over.

I agree win or you lose no moral victorys

But when someone says our team hasn't even competed in the sec this year they are obviously wrong.

Dooley has "restocked" our roster with good players. We are in a position to win with these guys.

But, only after we hire someone to coach them.

It may be true on some level, but when it's used to defend Dools, it sends me over the edge. As if Dooley did us such a huge favor because of his deep love for UT to sign a contract with a 5 mil buyout.........thank you Derek, we are eternally grateful for taking HC job at a tradition rich school with facilities out the wazoo and everything you need to win big inthe most prestigious conference in college football, thank you, Derek. Puke.
