The Association Football Thread

True, thats sort of what I meant. Not sure how Nashville would attend with people with already having tickets to the Titans and Predators, especially now when money is a little tighter.

But I think it would be a cool thing to do in the NFL offseason, and an option for those more into soccer.

Also, unless a team moved, it might be tough to start up a new team with owner, GM, coaches, players, media, etc. although I'm sure it its certainly doable as evidenced by the recent new teams in the league

This thread is too weird. Reading about Americans discussing premier league.

Is it shown on the tv much in the states or do you have to watch it on dodgy Internet streams?

Its not shown on network all that often. You see more and more this time of year, not a lot.

What makes you watch our League as opposed to the MLS? Quality of play?c

Because watching the MLS games, most of the time, is about like watching a high school game on tv. I just can't get into it. However, I'd skip my own wedding for an arsenal game. Haha

Since we have several more people posting than we used to. If anyone plays FIFA 12 add me on Xbox and give me a game. Tyleralyria

Attendance figures for past 2 seasons. Only 4 teams had slight attendance dips (KC's increase trumps their decrease on its own). Trends look good:

Those are attendance figures for the last 2 years. To qualify the numbers, my favorite EPL team (Everton) averages 35,000 in attendance.

Skill level and crowds, not to mention tradition. Your football clubs go back almost 150 years in some cases. Ours go back 20. Plus there are all of these little political and social backstories to each club. I'm currently reading a book on the history of the game and it is fascinating.

I follow the Bundesliga more, but love watching EPL, too.

What club do you follow?

I don't, I can't stand soccer... I did used to go to the occasional game but the crowds are too racist and abusive. Not my scene, the fans here are too tribal and don't respect opponents....

Wouldn't you still rather watch the Packers even if the London Monarchs came back around?

That's a great point, but I asked because I thought the MLS was a big league, on par with our leagues, obviously not. You have Beckham right?

I can't really answer because I wasn't around for the monarchs era so I don't have any idea how it compares to NFL. I would likely rather watch the pack though, but because I have been a packers fan for years if I was a monarch fan before a packers fan it may have been a different story.
