I realize depth makes all the difference and that is what sets the SEC apart but... all pac 12 vs all SEC would be a helluva football game.

Dbake, seems like me, you, and TrueOrange are always the only ones hanging out in the Around the NCAA game threads. Its that time of year again, im excited

I definitely will be starting tomorrow night. Z ventures that way sometimes, iirc.

I will be for night games, but I work till 2:30 on Saturdays.

Which is a hell of a lot better than last year.

You'll miss Ohio state beating up on some awful team each week at noon

The less I see of Urban Meyer, the better.

One of the very few people that I personally have never met and who has never committed a crime that I hate.

I'm gonna sound like an *******, but so be it. Nothing would make me happier. He truly is a despicable person.

Just about all championship-level college coaches have to be ruthlessly ambitious, power-hungry snake oil salesmen, who are publicly sanctimonious while privately turning a blind eye to all manner of shady stuff. You don't get to the top of that profession without being able to check all those boxes. I'm not sure that Urban Meyer is that much more despicable than the rest of them, than it's just that for whatever reason he hasn't hidden it behind a folksy, aw-shucks persona like most of the others.

And he retired from Florida when the going got tough to spend time with his family. Only to work for ESPN and then take another very high profile job.

There is no doubt this is true. However, Meyer is a proven liar and is all about himself to an extent worse than anybody. And I disagree about a hidden persona. Remember how he use to play the religion card all the time? Or his whole "it's all about the kids" routine and then just chews them out when he's done? I'd rather have Bobby ****ing Petrino as the coach at UT than Urban Meyer.

(I'm also slightly biased seeing he has coached against Tennessee and Michigan).

All coaches talk about how it's all about the "young men." The ones who mean it don't normally win championships. Aggressively public religiosity is pretty standard too.

I don't disagree that Meyer appears to be an execrable human being. I just wonder how far off the bell curve he really is for guys at the top of his profession.
