He has rode Daddy's coattails. He is a good coach but not a great coach.

Agreed. But again, some people on this board seem to think he'll be standing in some sort of unemployment line if USC lets him go, and that's just not the case. He may not get a HC gig again right away, but he'll be a great coordinator for somebody. Hell, even Dooley found work in the NFL, so I'm sure Kiffin will land on his feet.

It's not Kiffin's fault that that team was VASTLY overrated. That one's on the media. I don't think Kiffin is in the top tier of coaches in the nation, but he's also not the worthless idiot that some people on this site make him out to be.

Overrated yes. But that team definitely underachieved as well and that is on Kiffin.

He's an offensive coordinator with a head coach's title

Oh yeah he'll be fine. He did wonders for Crompton. He is a good coach but it all may have been too much too soon. He'll be back.

He could be a great OC in the NFL. I'm not convinced he could do much more

He is a top shelf D1 head coach. He's a great offensive play caller and a great recruiter. No recruiting in the nfl. Diminishes the value of one of his best skill sets.

Hate the guys all you want, he is a very good offensive coach.

He had Matt Barkley as the consensus #1 pick in last seasons draft. He made jonathon crompton a player. He improved the raiders rushing attack. He can adapt and tailor a game play to the players he has instead of vice versa. If he were still here, TN would be a monster.

nb4 sanctions blah blah don't know **** blah blah

I'm not disagreeing on the recruiting aspect, because he is a top 10 when it comes to recruiting. He wouldn't need that in the NFL, and more money to be made there. I'm sure he woukd get a "good" D1 head coaching job after this year, like a Northwestern type school. I just think his peak would be as an NFL OC

Bingo.

He'll get another job and he'll be fine.

Problem is, who's going to hire Kiffin? He's perceived as radioactive, and he's perceived as a failure. I still think he's a pretty good coach -- though nowhere near as much as I used to, before he's spent four years repeatedly losing to far less talented teams -- but he's got so much baggage that it's hard to see what AD would want to stand up at the press conference and introduce him. He's got a long time in the wilderness ahead of him before he ever gets another decent head coaching job.

Yeah because NFL teams hire 31 year olds with 0 years of head coaching and only 1 year of coordinator experience to head coaching positions all the time.

NFL teams turn their franchises over to someone with the reputation as an offensive coach because their father is a good defensive coordinator on the opposite coast?

This is your logic here?
