Its partially Worley's fault...
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Again -- Jones heavily recruited Peterman. Worley is someone whom he'd presumably never met before taking the UT job. Yet Worley's never been anything other than the prohibitive favorite for the starter. Is Butch Jones an idiot?

There is no doubt that Worley is a crummy QB. But being stuck with a crummy QB is better than having a coaching staff that watches practice everyday but can't figure out that they have a better option, isn't it?

I don't disagree with what you're saying. However...what you posted has nothing to do with whether or not Worley's play negatively affected the defense, which (in my opinion) it did to a certain extent. I would hardly pin all Oregon's offensive yardage and points on Justin Worley. But I do believe that if he were even marginally more effective as a passer, that many drives would have been extended which means a. More opportunities for us to score, and b. fewer opportunities for Oregon to score.

That's just my simple-minded theory.

Pretty much went exactly how we all expected. To be honest, I figured it might even be worse because Oregon would want to prove they were capable of naming any score they wanted against an SEC team, but thankfully, they stopped trying late in the 3rd quarter. UT simply doesn't belong on the field with teams like that right now, and since the scheduling if elite OOC opponents doesn't appear to be going away any time soon, here's hoping we start getting better, and fast.

I don't disagree at all. I just think we're still at the point in the process where Jones gets the benefit of the doubt, and I feel pretty sure that the fact that he's starting a mismatched QB who can't throw over a different QB whom he personally heavily recruited has got to mean something. It really comes down to whether you're already ready to say in Game 3 that Butch Jones is an idiot.

It's possible Worley is a good practice player that sucks in the game. Look at Crompton. Same thing was said about him.

I'm not going to totally second guess him at this point. He surely knows better than I do, or should anyways. I am curious to see if/when he decides to make a change.

I think the defense is improved and will obviously improve in coming years. I also think there is a "just noticeable difference" sort of thing in play where unless you're a certain level of good they're gonna run train. Was not surprised at all by the outcome, though it was frustrating.

I'll ask this here, since you guys can probably answer faster than I can research it...

What does our O-line look like for next year? Do we have any game experience coming back at all, assuming Tiny goes pro and we lose the entire line?
