As I said last time this came up, I have had occasional trouble with what a friend who is a physical therapist says is an oblique. Three Advil and I can play tennis with it. Crazy that Gattis isn't even swinging a bat after two weeks.
I pulled an oblique the summer between sr year of high school and freshman yr of college. I didn't want to breathe for two weeks, much less swing a bat. And I played through broken ribs and a broken wrist. Whatever your trouble is may be related to an oblique, but it certainly isn't a strained one.
I don't pretend to know anything about it other than what my friend with the doctorate says [1]. I'm sure there are degrees. When mine acts up I have to cycle the various OTC painkillers hard for a few days but I can still manage to do pretty much whatever I want. Maybe "strain" is a specific term for something that's an order of magnitude beyond my problem.
