Scotty should be happy.

The Preds just had Seth Jones fall into their laps.

(Seriously, congratulations, Predators fans. This guy has a chance to be the sort of foundational guy you can build a franchise around. I hope he works out.)

I'm a casual fan that roots for the Preds. Why should I be pumped we got Seth Jones?

The best defensemen to come out of the draft in years. Maybe even one of the best players to come out of the draft in years. This team needs a top forward in the worst way.. But this guy is going to be an All Star for years to come. Complete player who can also put the puck in the net on the other end of the ice. Not only that, but he will be a HUGE draw. Absolute steal of the draft.

I usually only do homework for guys near pred's first round selection. How in the fack did this guy get to 4?!

No idea. It will be well chronicled in the future. This kid is going to bring national exposure and he is going to be paired with one of the best. Very excited about this one. Now we need to bring in Vincent LaCavalier.

Any of these guys could be. With an exception about every five years so, the top of the NHL draft is almost a complete crapshoot.

If this guy is as good as you think he is, why did he fall to #4? (Honest question. I haven't read much about the draft this year because the Caps don't have a high pick.)

Nobody is really sure other than the fact that the Avs really felt like they needed a forward, even though they have a hole in their D as well. Barkov at 2nd seems to be the real head scratcher from the reactions I've seen so far. Regardless, disregarding individual team needs, Jones was widely considered the overall top prospect.

There were 4 elite players this year. 3 Forwards and 1 defensemen. Some teams value skilled forwards more than defensemen. Especially Sakic and Yzerman. That's all I can come up with on the matter. Seth Jones was as close as a consensus number 1 overall pick amongst the media and evaluators that has came around in years. I don't know why they passed on him. I do know, Poile stated a few days ago that he did not see any circumstance where he would fall but he was "110% sure they would draft him if he did" that says a lot about his game. Nashville is still pretty rich in defensemen even after Suter left. This kid is light years ahead of where Suter was at this point in his career.

Hey Verc, what's that wing place in Atlanta that yall were talking about one day, Wing Master? Something like that?

Nevermind, getting too far out of town now
