I just now realized that he didn't play at all last year. His offense finally got so bad that the defense didn't matter.Former Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons announces retirement
Andrelton Simmons, the defensive wizard who played with the Atlanta Braves from 2012 until 2015, has retired from baseball.housethathankbuilt.com
Our fans have gone full goober on this one.I love our fans. If Nico torches this defense, the general feeling in the FF is going to be "See, I told y'all Heupel can't evaluate QBs, he sucks" and "We would have gone 10-2 or 11-1 with Nico."
Really? I actually think it is a great spot for him. Rightly or wrongly, these bowl games don't have the importance that they used to. It isn't like he's being thrown into a big conference game in a hostile environment. True freshman, but he's been on the team for a full calendar year now learning the offense. I wish he got more reps during the regular season, but he'll get plenty in this game. Our fans have gone full goober on this one.
I really hope he sets the world on fire, but I don't think he would've changed a single outcome and I'm not exactly excited to see a true freshman play Iowa lol. I'm seeing 18/32 for about 160. Just hope he doesn't turn it over or get banged up.

Sean Newcomb was a dollar store Joe Milton. I don't think there has ever been a pitcher who looked the part in MLB history more than Newk did. Some of the defensive plays he made while a Brave were unbelievable. He was decent with the bat back then.
The Angels definely got the best of that trade.
Good for him to get 10 years of MLB service
I was listening to Basillio earlier. He said that the coaches were concerned about what the team would think, so they let Joe make his own decision but didn't do anything to push him toward playing. Was this a Joe decision? It should have been his choice, but I doubt the staff tried too hard to talk him out of it. JMO.
