The Atlanta Braves Thread

They are going to look silly if he torches a good defense but it’s beyond time, let’s go kid
I love our fans. If Nico torches this defense, the general feeling in the FF is going to be "See, I told y'all Heupel can't evaluate QBs, he sucks" and "We would have gone 10-2 or 11-1 with Nico."

Our fans have gone full goober on this one.

I really hope he sets the world on fire, but I don't think he would've changed a single outcome and I'm not exactly excited to see a true freshman play Iowa lol. I'm seeing 18/32 for about 160. Just hope he doesn't turn it over or get banged up.

Really? I actually think it is a great spot for him. Rightly or wrongly, these bowl games don't have the importance that they used to. It isn't like he's being thrown into a big conference game in a hostile environment. True freshman, but he's been on the team for a full calendar year now learning the offense. I wish he got more reps during the regular season, but he'll get plenty in this game.

The bigger meltdown might be if the defense give up a bunch of points. Against P5 opponents, the most points Iowa scored all year was 26, and that was against a dog crap Michigan St team. These dudes were shut out by the 2 really good teams they played (Penn St and Michigan), and scored 20 points or less against Iowa St, Purdue, Wisconsin, Minnesota, N'western, Illinois, and Nebraska. Incredibly, among those games they only lost one of them, to Minnesota. If they come out running up and down the field and score 28+ points against us, there will be a huge contingent of people not wanting to let Banks on the plane back to Knoxville, lol.

Was this a Joe decision? It should have been his choice, but I doubt the staff tried too hard to talk him out of it. JMO.

I’m pretty sure this was a mutual decision that everyone understood what was best for the players and program

I just now realized that he didn't play at all last year. His offense finally got so bad that the defense didn't matter.

Some of the defensive plays he made while a Brave were unbelievable. He was decent with the bat back then.

The Angels definely got the best of that trade.

Good for him to get 10 years of MLB service

Sean Newcomb was a dollar store Joe Milton. I don't think there has ever been a pitcher who looked the part in MLB history more than Newk did.

I was listening to Basillio earlier. He said that the coaches were concerned about what the team would think, so they let Joe make his own decision but didn't do anything to push him toward playing.

Just want to thank my god forsaken cousins for coming into town and for giving me the stomach bug. Bastards
