The front office has known for at least the last decade that they don’t have a dominant, number one starter long before Stryder got hurt or Max underperforms in the playoffs. Chris Sale has had a very good season but he wasn’t exactly a hot commodity and if he performed as most other teams expected then the Braves are more than likely a .500ish ball club. They will replace him with a budget replacement if he doesn’t re-sign with the Braves.

Recruiting was a year round stress but with the addition of NIL it becomes a system where you have to re-recruit your own players in addition to potential players. It’s a major issue. Greg Popovich makes double the salary that Calipari made last season

UK supposedly offered Hurley $11m/year, which would have paid him more than all but 5 guys in the NBA. The money difference between college and pro for a head coach isn't significant. There are plenty of college coaches who make just as much or more than NBA coaches.

I don't know if the NBA actually is fewer hours and less stress. It's different stress. It certainly is fewer hours recruiting, or worrying about your own players leaving. It's way more hours doing actual coaching, watching film, etc. And coaching the Lakers would be a high pressure, stressful job. Especially with LBJ there. They think they should win the title (or come very close) about every single year.

I just don't disagree with him. He spins it a lot.
It's like a convo I had in here a while back after we got PJ. That slurve is good, but bro you throw 97, rip it every once in awhile.
