The Atlanta Braves Thread

MLB might be the dumbest billion dollar organization in the world.

"Well yeah, ya know, we want starter's to pitch 6 IP but if he's given up 4 runs or hit 100 pitches then you can take him out."

So basically you're going to get maybe, what 100 extra innings total from starters and potentially ruin arms and careers? This is the dumbest **** I've ever heard.

lol yeah I’m out if they do this

I love baseball and I love the Braves but that might be it for me. Especially if they try that **** in the playoffs. Look, I wish we could have the days of Maddux and Glavine and Smoltz and dudes pitching 275 innings and what not, but the sport changes. RB's don't mean as much in the NFL, the mid-range in the NBA is obsolete, the NHL doesn't have goon enforcers anymore. Yeah, I get the nostalgia hit but Manfred needs to focus on promoting the beauty baseball and not this stupid **** from some 71-year-old Boston reporter who missed the old days of a #3 starter throwing 120 pitches for 7 innings and giving up 4 runs.

In 1974, Buzz Capra had a 2.28 ERA for the Braves after throwing 217 innings at 26. April 1975 he feels a twinge in his pitching arm, has a 5.11 ERA in 227 IP for the rest of his career. This stuff has always happened. Baseball is littered with it. I'm sure Capra wasn't maxing out 97 every pitch.

Yeah, this is beyond a radical change. This is so erroneous I can’t even fathom it. Talk about a paradigm shift, this is it. This changes the game beyond how we know it.

Imagine not being able to take Ian Anderson out in a WS game when he's walked 5 guys because he hasn't thrown 100 pitchers or given up 4 runs and was only at 5 innings. Think how that changes the complexity of the World Series.

Sean Murphy last 32 games:

We coming

Really wish they at least had tried Ozuna in LF for a month or so to get both Murphy's and TDA's bat in the lineup together. It made no sense that they were fine with Soler in the OF and not Ozuna when Soler is just as bad.

It also kills the value of bullpen guys. I wouldn't be surprised if the PA filed a grievance over this.
You would need 7,8,9 inning guys. One to rotate in when someone needs a day off then you could carry 3-4 min contract guys for when games get out of hand. It would kill the mid tier guys value.

Margin is still thin at SP, and we can’t afford any more injuries the rest of the way, but please let us stay relatively healthy and really get going.

Free the bear 🐻?

I'm not arguing Ozuna in the OF is a good choice. I just want to know the reasoning behind giving two months of PA's to Adam Duvall, Forrest Wall, Ramon Laureano and Eddie Rosario and then at the deadline be cool with Jorge Soler in the OF.

Would love to get it at 5GB with Philly in town on Tuesday. Put some real pressure on them.

Also, I’ll say it again, who cares if we play the Angels??? Our division is basically going to be decided in the last 2 weeks of August because we don’t play a full series again Philly in September. Forget the Starting pitchers nonsense and go back to the old schedules
