I mean it's pretty stupid those matchups happen any year.I made an NCAA thread about this last month but it truly irks me we have 8 conference games this year instead of 9. No excuse that Sankey is so selfish and greedy that I have to watch Tennessee play UTEP or Kent State instead of Auburn or South Carolina or Missouri. Ridiculous.

I really think it was Saban partially too, but I think Sankey wants to wait and use that as leverage for his next package.I'm fine with two "filler" home games like Chattanooga and Kent State, especially since we don't have preseason games. In a perfect world, I'd do 9 SEC games, 1 P4 game you have to play and then 2 FBS teams with a preseason game against an FCS team. But at the very least, the fact Sankey is holding out for an extra few bucks with a multi-billion-dollar television deal already sealed and hurting the sport should be a crime. It pisses me off.
I said 2 or 3, because I have a theory that I think they might just flip the schedules next season. So home games this are away next and vice versa.
And those scrimmages can still be money games for the FCS/creampuff opponent. That's been presented as justification for why we still need them, is that the small schools need the money. Why would having them as exhibitions mean they couldn't get paid?I really think it was Saban partially too, but I think Sankey wants to wait and use that as leverage for his next package.
But those OOC bum games are just wastes of time. I'd like to see teams be allowed 1 or 2 games in the spring against those teams. Bring ETSU and Chatt up to Knoxville in the spring. Sell tix for 30 bucks a pop.
I'm fine with thatBelieves it's been announced that is the case. Rumor is 2026 will be the first of the 9 game schedule. SEC gets an out for the TV deal by then I believe. Then they'll do the three permanent opponents and flip 6 every year.
Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Vandy
Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina
Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU, Missouri
Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma
You tell me because I don't have an argument against it.And those scrimmages can still be money games for the FCS/creampuff opponent. There are a lot more expenses than paying the opposing team..You would recoup the money easy. Do it Saturday night at 8PM, throw a big tailgate party, pay ETSU or Chattanooga or Tennessee Tech 800K or whatever, sell tickets at $20/pop (if you get 80K in the seats you double your money without considering concessions) and you have a game that doesn't count where you can play everyone. ESPN would love to have that instead of a 30 for 30 rerun on SECN in August.
I don’t use or track mgm, but the Braves opened as favorites there?-105 on mgm. I'm going to wait and try for plus money tonight.
We opened at -115 on there.
Nah. It was a straight pick emI don’t use or track mgm, but the Braves opened as favorites there?
It’s been relatively a coin flip everywhere but leaned towards PHI. Briefly swapped a bit ago but back towards PHI now.
My assumption is mostly public on PHI but someone sharp or large hit ATL. Haven’t looked into and not touching either way, just found it interesting.
