I would say Freddie is the bigger blunder. You don't have to have an all-star at every position, so I am fine going with a defensive player at SS. But we basically gave Olson the contract Freddie was looking for and had to fork over a costly package of prospects to acquire him. I get that 1b age poorly and Olson is younger, but if you're gonna fork out the money anyways, why wouldn't you just go with your guy?It really hurts when you realize they lost Freddie and Dansby over...probably $30M in total salary? They wouldn't give Fred 6 years/$150M and they wouldn't give Dans 6 years/$120M
You can lose Freddie and recover. You can lose Dansby and recover. But, losing both in consecutive years? That’s incredibly hard to come back from even if we would’ve had a rock solid culture and management. AA deserved the ax for mismanaging it so bad.It really hurts when you realize they lost Freddie and Dansby over...probably $30M in total salary? Freddie's swing is going to age better than Olson's too.I would say Freddie is the bigger blunder.
