The Atlanta Braves

Having to deal with Chip Caray for 15 years and having Gaudin, who actually has a decent sense of humor, is so nice.

Just listened to the 247Sports podcast and Callahan made it sound like it’s more likely we’re rolling with Merk than not at this point 🤮

There’s probably not much difference between them. I’m tired of talking about how not good nico was.
The defense isn’t going to be as good this year.

It’s not about him being comparable to Nico — whoever wins the job needs to be better than Nico was last year if they’re going to win 8+ games. It’s also odd to assume Nico wouldn’t have taken a step forward in his second year running the show.

There's so much hindsight bias, in different directions, now that he's gone. A lot of the people who thought he was better than he actually was last year think he was much worse than he actually was.

Nico was pretty good (not great and definitely not elite) last year for a redshirt freshman. That's how I'd describe him. He was not the principal reason the team went 10-2. It seems a little presumptuous to assume that he would not improve at all had he stayed this year, but I also think it is presumptuous to assume he would eventually turn into an elite QB. I think as the season went on Nico got a little bit better, but not by leaps and bounds. Usually 5-star guys like that who ultimately fulfill expectations 1) show more than what Nico showed early on and 2) show quicker and more drastic improvement as the season goes on. His processing speed and ability to keep his eyes downfield just didn't really improve all that much as the season went on, which is kind of discouraging.

Sure, I guess it is possible he'd be the next Joe Burrow (pedestrian first season followed by a Heisman), but he's the exception, not the rule.

While true, theoretically the schedule should also be easier. Gunnar Stockton did not look good in his limited opportunity. I'm really surprised UGA didn't pursue someone in the portal. Bama seems to be a big state of disarray at the QB position too. Both teams are still very talented outside of QB, but neither team at this point has a QB that can be expected to elevate the team.

Some of UGA and Bama being worse is mitigated by UF and OU likely being better. But we also play OU and UF late in the year, and both schools could have interim head coaches by the time we play them given each team plays a very tough schedule.

So it's not completely doom and gloom.

Bats are starting to come around a little bit and we lose Ozuna for who knows how long, lol. What in the hell you doing to get hurt while playing DH?

Im in the results business chief.

HIT IT IN THE AIR

His launch angle (even last year) has consistently been 16 degrees for most of his career.

It's at 5.1 right now. Now launch angle can be flukey, but he's got to find the loft again.
