First of all, let me say that the Wisconsin Badgers proved itself as a well-coached, tough-nosed football team. They run the ball well, and their defense hits hard.
However, I traveled to Tampa for the game and was sitting in the south endzone area right on the border of where the Tennessee area met the "Wisconsin" area, and I was really disappointed with the vulgarity, rudeness and lack of class shown by nearly all the fans in red in that area. It is one thing to be fired up and cheer hard, it is quite another to chant obsenities with a lot of young children sitting nearby. At first, I thought this large section was just a bunch of college students (and many of them appeared to be of college age), but at least half of them were looked to be in their late 20's or early 30's and some of them older. They were chanting "you F#@%ed up!" every time there was a penalty on us. There were many others such as one that included "you eat sh$%&@t!" in it.
I know that every school has its share of 'bad apples' in their fan base, but I have never seen UT fans behave in such a way that would make me ashamed to have young children around. I thought that Wisconsin would have a bunch of good-natured, all-American type of folks, but at least in the section where I was seated, it was not the case. I am sure there were many that weren't like this, but it was truly disgusting, and it wasn't just a couple of dumb kids. . . it was a group of probably around 40 or 50 fans. Truly disappointing.
