is that he was the only coach that wanted the job,not the coach that UT wanted. He might turn out to be the best coach in UT history, but as of now he is just a notch above Derek Dooley. The guy is qualified,at least he has more wins than losses.

I seem to remember Butch Davis saying he would LOVE to be the coach at UT.

In 20008, Butch Davis was not interested in the U.T. job. Again in 2009, Butch Davis was not interested in the U.T. job.

Now, he is un employed and he acts like he is interested in the job. The academic side of our house refused to approve him even being interviewed this week because he was caught up in an academic scandal at UNC, which ultimately led to his firing....

He can go jump off a bridge!!!!!

It's like going to the bar, picking up a chick that isn't the hottest chick in the bar but is a solid 6, then you take her home and she takes off her panties and a big set of hairy nuts flop out. Going in you were optimistic on things only to find out later things went south quick.

He's proven he's a better coach than Dooley therefore it's a upgrade for sure. Time will tell if he's a great coach which is what we need. No matter who was hired other than Gruden, the fan base was going to be very upset. I think Jones is a solid coach as much as Strong would have been, so it's not as big a let down that a Davis or Smart hire would have been to me personally. The positive is that Dooley is gone and we'll have a much better coach. That's all folks........

Umm.........not a good analogy either. Just sounds like a recent therapy session you had maybe?

May not be a good analogy to you because you're probably one of those people that allow the media and university to tell you how to think and feel but I'm a little more mentally strong than that. Yes, I love Tennessee but I can look at things and tell the university settled to get this search over with. If they didn't settle why was Jones 4th or 5th choice? What's your analogy on that one? Let me guess, "he's the coach of the Vols so I love and support him." (in your best robot sounding voice). Maybe it's time the fans let the University know they are sick of this garbage and quit being so damned naive. You know, switch things up a little? Flame away....

This explains why I get frustrated with some of the posters on VN, their education stopped at the 5th grade.

Hiring Butch Jones is like going on a blind date.

You may hit a home run, or you may get herpes.

How's that for an analogy?
