Look up how many guys from the 2015 and 2016 team are still in the NFL nearly a decade later. That team was insanely talented. And you look crazy to suggest the 2022 team had better RBs. On what planet is the 2022 backfield better than Hurd, Kamara, and Kelly?

I’ve always thought the 1990 team was the best in the country, but kept shooting itself in the foot. Had national champ Colorado beat in the opener but let them escape with a tie. Same at Auburn a few weeks later - blew a big lead and Greg Burke missed an easy FG at the end that would’ve won it. Then, we crap the bed at home and lose 9-6 to Bama on a last second 50 yd FG. Finally, a couple weeks later we are still ranked #9 and driving in the final minute vs #1 Notre Dame and Andy Kelly throws an INT in the end zone and we lose, 34-29.

To me this is the “what could’ve been” year and still haunts me to this day. And we did pretty much all of it without Chuck Webb. Although Tony Thompson had a good year, losing Webb for the season in week 2 was huge.

Because that was his style. Had he retired, it makes sense they would have let him name his successor... Especially since Doug Dickey was also on the verge of retirement.
