Good call on Robbie Gordon, he would race a shopping cart if he could. This is a really hard question to answer. The only way to truly tell would be to put them all in equal equipment. But as far as a driver getting the most out of what he had ole mop head Spencer ran it till it broke!
On the subject of Petty, Earnhardt and Gordon.....Pearson had 105 victories in half the starts of Petty and didn't run for the championship in those days. If he did, I don't think The King would of had as many victories or championships.
If Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki and Tim Richmond had not died I think both Dale Sr. and Gordon's wins and championships would not be where they are.
One additional note ..I don't think Robbbie Gordon gets the credit he deserves but its of his own doing! Had he and Yates stuck together after Davey died he would of flourished!
These are strictly the opinions of CD12 and mean absolutely nothing!

I can't help but pull for the guy! I haven't had a favorite driver in a very long time and usually make my mind up during the race as to who I am for and its usually the underdogs or the less fortunate! But you got to admire an independent owner in todays racing world! Plus Robbie has a set of balls on him!
You're right Nascar has turned into a gentlemens sport!no.
Robbie has million dollar talent and a five cent head. the CART and NASCAR owners got tired of seeing him do stupid things and tear up their equipment, so he was forced to to buy his own team and tear up his own cars. which, not suprisingly, he has been pretty good at, one way or another.
and Jimmy Spencer is a stiff. but compareed to his broadcast skills, he should have stayed in in the driver's seat.
The best drivers in Nascar, in my opinion are the drivers that can drive and excel in something besides stock cars. Jeffy and Jimmy do not fit in that category.
I have driven with Jack hodenchild and kenny jacobs and met sammy swindel.Don't like what he has become, but in his day Jeffy as you call him was one bad a$$ sprint car driver. The night he graduated high school he was racing wing to wing with Steve Kinser. He paid his dues. He started driving go carts when he was four years old, worked his way up. DADDY"S NAME DIDN"T GET HIM HIS SEAT!!
As far as what he does now, no he doesn't drive anymore on the side. Smoke, Schrader, Carl Edwards, and even ol Bobby Labonte is making a push into the weekend dirt racing. Bobby has hired himself an ace driver and put together a top notch SLM team.

This is as inaccurate as you can be.I know Jeffy's racing history outside of Nascar and I am not impressed. Most racers start out racing go karts when they are young, that is nothing new. The only reason Jeffy "got his seat" was because Rick "the Felon" Hendrick was looking for someone young to "put in a seat" and he chose Jeffy. Jeffy is a so so driver that was given the best equipment since day one. He SHOULD have those 4 championships and then some.
yeah, Jeff Gordon is such a bad race car driver that he tested an F1 car at Indy several years ago and instantly ran it fast enough to qualify for the previous years race.
and 'Jeffy' got his seat at Hendrick because he proved at Bill Davis Racing that he could handle it.
