Justice Alito Temporarily Pauses Order Restricting Biden administration's Social Media Contacts
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito paused an order restricting the Biden administration's communications with social media companies after lower courts ruled officials engaged in censorship practices.
Alito's temporary hold on a federal judge's July 4 ruling comes after the Justice Department asked the high court to stay the decision, arguing it infringes on the First Amendment rights of government officials and impedes their duties.
The preliminary injunction is short-lived. Alito's order noted it would be stayed until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 22.
