Referees really are stupid. The QB in the act of throwing gets hit, the ball flies FORWARD 10 yards and they rule it a fumble. Idiots.

Exactly what I was coming on here to state. His #'s again a mediocre SEC team are far from desirable.

Eh. They’d probably be up 2-3 scores with a better-than-Vanderbilt-level offensive line (though worth noting from watching, too, these refs erroneously reviewed and called back 2 very complete catches of about 80 yards). Honestly, the fact that he’s put up the numbers he has given the (level of/ lack of) talent around him at everywhere but 1 WR feels commendable.

Nice pass and TD run by the WR following a very methodical drive.

27-17 Wake Forest with 2:33 left in the game.

Wake Forest stopped a 4th and 33 with only 10 players on the field.

Edit: Nm, there were 11. One was outside the camera.

The score doesn’t reflect how much better Wake Forrest played compared to Missouri.

Compare his #'s to the ones we put up against Mizzou. 23/37 for 280 with 3td's and a pick......not exactly lighting up a very average D.

We were 29/39 for 460 4td's and zero picks. Both of our QB's who played threw for over 100 and Milton only threw 3 passes.

I will pass on him in the portal.

Missouri ends the season 6-7 with a second straight bowl loss (oddly enough, to another black and gold team, following last year’s loss to Army).

Wake Forest finishes the season 8-5. While not as nice as how the season looked to be heading at #9 and 6-1 in late October, there are still a few positives. This marks the 3rd time Wake Forest has won back to back bowl games in back to back seasons. The program is now 11-6 in 17 appearances, with Clawson’s tenure accounting for a 5-2 record among their last 7 straight bowl appearances.

Sam Hartman caps off his ACC career with a record 110 TD passes and 128 total TDs. He finishes with 12,967 career passing yards, putting him 2nd in the ACC record books (behind Philip Rivers - 13484 yards). Wake Forest rode his 944 completions (3rd in ACC history, on also the 3rd most attempts in the conference), going 19-8 over his last two years.

Fair point to make. Save for that whole “Missouri lining up offsides play where the referee chose not to call the penalty after they did the whole ‘chuck it deep free play’ that was then picked”, this really should have been a pretty one-sided game.

First, you can't make comparisons like that. Different circumstance, locations and even rosters will be different due to injuries, grades, opt outs. Having said that, the reason this is not apples to apples is the offense. Wake does this weird "read" type offense where we do a really fast/hurry up type offense which is designed to produce huge numbers especially when a defense is fatigued in the second half. Not sure there's a portal option that could equal the season Hooker had so if that's the metric, you'll be waiting for a good while and disappointed no matter who they might bring in. Still, I'd have to think Hartman would be very successful in it. I'd take him right now.

I would much rather trust Joe since he has been in the system for multiple years over someone just learning it. Give Nico a year to learn and then give him the reins.
