Man, it is almost humorous the amount of times I've read on here that GA gave the blueprint for beating our offense. The blueprint has been there, anyone with a little knowledge on Xs and Os knew what was needed to slow down/beat our offense.

Georgia didnt invent a new defense or new scheme to show this "blueprint" being spoken of. It was honestly pretty basic football, the biggest wrinkle that caused the most problems was the late shifts by their front, but this isnt new either....Georgia has been doing this, and they wernt first team to ever do it....we did same thing when Chavis was the D coordinator.

The basic concept of what Georgia done was they lined up in the 3-4, they played man to man on the outside, 1-2 rushers, 2-3 dropping into shallow center to cover any receivers that came inside across the face of their man coverage. It was that simple for the most part.

The difference in Georgia and other teams is Georgia has athletes that can play man. If we do get another shot at Georgia....we can take advantage of Kelee Ringo, he doesn't have the hips to consistently stay on a receiver in man to man... don't get me wrong hes a hell of an athlete overall, but hes not an excellent corner. His hips are just too stiff for man coverage against top receivers.

This game was simply everything going against us all in the same day, ontop of playing a team that's too good to beat when you shoot yourself in the foot constantly. The constant false starts destroyed our tempo and allowed Georgia to sub players in that they otherwise would not have been able to get in and we would have had mismatch opportunities. We have heard it time and time again that mismatches and tempo is what this offense thrives on, and thats 100% accurate....so we cannot kill ourselves with presnap penalties because it completely changes what we're able to use playcalling wise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and Go Vols! Beat Mizz!

The blitz package they used in the 2nd half was very effective. When the Vols lined up with the WRs stacked close to each sideline and then emptied the backfield, UGA was pinching the DL into the center of the line closing any running lane for Hooker then dropped LBs back into coverage and blitzed the corners from each side. The Vols never really figured that out. However, I am sure they will have a counter for anyone else who tries this.

UGA's biggest adjustment was, they have better athletes than everyone else. Heupel is an offensive genius and he will have answers for anything UGA did to them on Sat........and no one else we will play will have the athletes that UGA trotted out there.

UGA had some clever blitzes and their guys executed, but mainly they have the dudes necessary to stop us, most people do not.
It's so funny listening to people talk about a magical "blueprint". Mostly, what UGA did was be physically better than us at key spots. Jalen Carter eating blocks, crushing the pocket and freeing up his 5 star friends to tee off in the pass rush wasn't all that complicated of a gameplan.

Agree. Mostly, they had Jimmy's and Joe's on the D-Line that could win one on one's and guys in the secondary who could play man and cover pretty good 90+% of the time. They did do a good job executing some of their blitzes and they had a clever mix but none of that would have mattered if not for the Jimmy's and the Joe's. There is not some magic formula X's and O's wise that people can use from watching that game tape to shut us down, unless they have similar players to UGA. Watching that tape might help Ohio State against us if we have to play them.

Agree and will add the blueprint also consisted of Stetson hitting two early deep passes and hooker missing two deep passes putting us in a hole. Oh…. And a 75 yard punt inside the 1. If teams can do all that….they have a chance.

Yes, they had a few different blitz they drew up but my point was just simply they didnt do anything that anyone else wouldn't want to have done. I didnt cover every defensive scheme/blitz they threw at us, just covered their base package and their base blitz they were able to use in most situations. Main point was Georgia "blueprint" isn't one that nearly anyone else would be able to copy. Others just don't have the athletes.

Georgia at their best may very well still beat Tennessee at their best....but it was clear to anyone who watched the gane that Georgia played their best game of the season and Tennessee played their worst. Credit to Georgia....they came prepared and we were flat.

Well, they had a much better plan than Bama, you have to give them that. Bama has similar athletes and they didn't gameplan as well or execute as well and we lit Bama up. I agree with your overall point though that most teams cannot take UGA's game plan and succeed because they don't have the players. The players are essential.

We didnt shoot ourselves in the foot on offense to assist Alabama either. Not you, but some don't understand how terrible a pre snap penalty is for our offensive scheme.... it literally takes away our advantage and immediately changes the play calling.

Yeah, we had crowd noise working in our favor against Bama.

The issue in my eyes is that we don’t have the athletes on the OLine to match up with Georgia’s DLine. Pair that with the talent they have at DB. If Hendon doesn’t get his first look, he doesn’t have time to go through the progressions before the pocket collapses and he either has to scramble or gets hit.

Ga. wasn.t great on defense until Muschamp got there. I hate to say that, cause I don't like the guy. With the talent Ga. has, he's the key to their defense.

They've been either #1 or #2 in Total Defense in the SEC for 6 straight years. Having Muschamp doesn't hurt, but Kirby is the common denominator.

The blueprint only works if you have the Jimmy's and Joe's. UGA maybe the only team that does. They also had a nice noisy crowd to gunk things up.

Pitt also had a good gameplan and we were a lot sloppier back then.

Ohio State definitely will....

Ohio State has not impressed me at all this year. They were out gained and out passed by 1-8 NORTHWESTERN and only won by 14 including a late score to ice it. Michigan is going to the shoe to spank them in a few weeks. There best win is at Penn St by 13 to a team with QB woes.
