The blueprint?!?!?

Man, it is almost humorous the amount of times I've read on here that GA gave the blueprint for beating our offense. The blueprint has been there, anyone with a little knowledge on Xs and Os knew what was needed to slow down/beat our offense.

Georgia didnt invent a new defense or new scheme to show this "blueprint" being spoken of. It was honestly pretty basic football, the biggest wrinkle that caused the most problems was the late shifts by their front, but this isnt new either....Georgia has been doing this, and they wernt first team to ever do it....we did same thing when Chavis was the D coordinator.

The basic concept of what Georgia done was they lined up in the 3-4, they played man to man on the outside, 1-2 rushers, 2-3 dropping into shallow center to cover any receivers that came inside across the face of their man coverage. It was that simple for the most part.

The difference in Georgia and other teams is Georgia has athletes that can play man. If we do get another shot at Georgia....we can take advantage of Kelee Ringo, he doesn't have the hips to consistently stay on a receiver in man to man... don't get me wrong hes a hell of an athlete overall, but hes not an excellent corner. His hips are just too stiff for man coverage against top receivers.

This game was simply everything going against us all in the same day, ontop of playing a team that's too good to beat when you shoot yourself in the foot constantly. The constant false starts destroyed our tempo and allowed Georgia to sub players in that they otherwise would not have been able to get in and we would have had mismatch opportunities. We have heard it time and time again that mismatches and tempo is what this offense thrives on, and thats 100% accurate....so we cannot kill ourselves with presnap penalties because it completely changes what we're able to use playcalling wise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and Go Vols! Beat Mizz!
Yep. jimmies and Joes all day
Enough of this we can hang because our coaches develop 3 star talent. jimmies and Joes win 99% of the time. coach Heuple is doing it we are on our way.

That didn’t happen

Hes referring to Kelee Ringo....Ringo was called on some when Hooker threw that direcrion, but not on a few others when there wasn't a throw. He just doesn't have the hips to match a good route runner step for step without holding.

Agree and will add the blueprint also consisted of Stetson hitting two early deep passes and hooker missing two deep passes putting us in a hole. Oh…. And a 75 yard punt inside the 1. If teams can do all that….they have a chance.
I think this was the biggest "change" in the game.

I would argue that nobody else does. Bama would probably be the second best team defensively athlete wise, and we saw that outcome.
I think Bama has the athletes, they just didn't utilize them as well as UGA did. Ohio State has similar athleticism as well. That's probably it though.

First, and foremost you gotta have the athletes and maybe those 3 teams do. Second, you've got to deploy them appropriately and they have to execute. UGA satisfied both elements. Bama only satisfied the first. We'll see what happens with Ohio State if we get a shot at them.

I'm not convinced it was so the dynamic game plane and athletes of GA, so much as a 60/40 us just dropping the ball vs them shutting us down. Georgia is no doubt the best team, but Tennessee shut themselves down more than UGA did overall. Just missed and didn't block.

Ga. wasn.t great on defense until Muschamp got there. I hate to say that, cause I don't like the guy. With the talent Ga. has, he's the key to their defense.
I think muskrat watches TN film every week of the year he really hates UT for some reason and I think he has a insider at UT because he has always been good defending UT. LOL kidding sorta

UGA had some clever blitzes and their guys executed, but mainly they have the dudes necessary to stop us, most people do not.
They just have more better athletes than we do, that's what several cycles of signing mostly all 4-5 star players. We'll get there with our recruiting but doesn't happen overnight. However, look at what this staff has done to develop the players we have and changed the culture of the team. The team plays together for one another--means a lot in terms of motivation and consistency in my opinion. Who would have expected this team to excel so much in a short time period? None I don't think, at least not us fans.

We never really got any rhythm, it felt like we could would move the ball okay at times, then run ourselves out of the drive with penalties. I don't know how many 3rd downs we would have injury timeouts. I feel like their defense did a great job, but we also couldn't have played worse at times.

The blitz package they used in the 2nd half was very effective. When the Vols lined up with the WRs stacked close to each sideline and then emptied the backfield, UGA was pinching the DL into the center of the line closing any running lane for Hooker then dropped LBs back into coverage and blitzed the corners from each side. The Vols never really figured that out. However, I am sure they will have a counter for anyone else who tries this.

UGA's biggest adjustment was, they have better athletes than everyone else. Heupel is an offensive genius and he will have answers for anything UGA did to them on Sat........and no one else we will play will have the athletes that UGA trotted out there.
I never saw 2 corners blitz at the same time. I saw em loading up on one side where we had to move our RB to that side then they blitzed the opposite corner. Our tackle couldn't get out on him. They only did that 3 times and only in the 2nd half.

Hooker is a system QB. He is an amazing system QB but he is not a thread the needle between teo guys type QB. He is high more often than not and not very accurate under pressure. He also does not know when to throw the ball away and takes huge crucial sacks almost every game that could be daily avoided by just throwing the ball away two seconds earlier.

Once we have a guy who can make a play on his own when absolutely nothing is there then we hit the next level.

We've had an amazing season, I'm just saying you have to give them some credit coaching wise too, Bama has the same kind of athletes UGA does and we smashed them. There are two elements to slowing us down: 1) you need the athletes (maybe 3 teams have them, Bama, UGA and OSU) and 2) they have to be deployed properly and have to execute. UGA did both. Bama just had #1.

Their front 3 man rush, beat our O line. That let them drop back more in coverage ...that's it.
Actually they mostly played us man to man in the secondary and brought 5-7 guys 60+ percent of the time. They stopped the run with 5 guys early was the big thing, that requires dudes who can win one on one consistently on the DL, and to get away with blitzing that much you've also got to be very good in one on one coverage and tackle consistently in space, which they did.

Totally agree. That was their 3rd away game and it was a more hostile environment what they were used to. The only thing I wasn’t sure was why they didn’t call QB runs more. We had penalties to back us up, but Hooker got sacked way too much too

There should’ve been a swing pass opportunity IMO. Maybe because we use the RPO?? it makes our RB block slower??

No- It wasn't scheme necessarily that beat us, yes Ball Lickers have some good athletes but we shot ourselves in the foot. We were inside their 40 - 9times? inside their 30 -6 times I think is what Coaches said. We got beat, they executed we did not. What beat us?
1- penalties, specifically false starts and motion , 2 Small going out, he picks up blitz, blocking better than any back we have, 3 We missed on too many open throws- I think should we get a re match we'll beat them. This was our worst all round executed game we have had all year.

They literally just did almost exactly what Pitt did, but with way better athletes.
Not to correct you, but for comparison sake, Pitt ran a 4-3 cover 4 majority of the game. Narduzzi has always liked to keep both his safeties within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and the strong safety might as well be considered in the box for run support. They were determined to stop/limit our rushing attack. Pretty big difference in what Pitt did and what Georgia did.

Georgia had a simple game plan. Kirby lined up land and knew that his guys were more physical and focused. They are number 1 and it showed. I do agree that their blitzing and coverage patterns were smart compared to everyone else we played. Constantly sending four plus on the line to stop the run and pressure the pass, give up everything short and trust the athletes to make the plays. To do what they did, you have to have 11 guys on that can win their matchup consistently.

I really hope that Missouri, USC, and Vanderbilt try what Georgia did. They don't have the same caliber athlete.

From watching the teams this year,
Missouri - they try straight-up nose-to-nose football but start rolling dice in the 2nd quarter to try and keep up
USC - they are playing roulette all night
Vanderbilt - does it really matter?
