The BRAVES ARE MOVING

The Braves are the team whose attendance most positively correlates with winning. I think it's the fact that Braves fans are spread all over the south, and are more willing to make a 3-5 hour car trip if the Braves are good.

I don't think we merit the 3rd largest stadium in MLB (what we have now).

I've always thought baseball stadiums in general were overbuilt for a sport with 81 home dates. There just aren't many places that can justify much over 35-40,000 seats.

It's funny how overwhelmingly conservative Cobb County is willing to throw hundreds of millions of dollars of public money at the Braves without putting it up for a vote.

Lets wait and see the funding details prior to criticizing the deal.

In the mean time we can laugh

@Talkmaster
Remember when City of Atlanta wouldn't allow a MARTA station at Brave stadium? Would lose parking revenue! Well .... Bwahahahahah !

Also, this just doesn't make much logistical sense to me. Cobb County's refused MARTA multiple times, right? Also, 285's traffic is just as bad as 75 from my experience.

People will not have to take MARTA if they move to a place that has a lot more parking. I think the Braves clientele is the type that can afford their own car.

Not a braves fan in any way shape or form, but it always seemed like a very nice stadium everytime I have gone there. From an outsider perspective it still seems too nice to be demolished. Just don't see the point to get rid of it so soon. Traffic is awful no matter what part of town you're in. A couple hundred million to keep it up to date for decades to come is a lot less than the $600 million to replace it. I am curios as to what that couple hundred million is needed for at turner field in the first place. Another thing is why the 20 year lease? Could they not negotiate to maybe another ten years and then move out?

Most everyone likes the TED. Getting there is a pain and the overall fan experience is subpar. There isnt even a dumpy dive bar by the stadium. Building it in cobb will be an instant upgrade in terms of getting to the game and also things to do before and after the game

The $200 million for the TED is for basic maintenance

The city muffed this one. The concept with Turner field was that the city was going invest heavily and redevelop the urban areas where the Ted is located. Bottom line is they didn't. Most of the money in Atlanta is North, and I don't see how you can blame the Braves for not renewing their lease, and moving to where season ticket holders live. It will seem wierd, considering that I've been going to Braves games since I can remember. I can still see Fulton Co. Stadium in my mind. 285 area is hardly even considered outside the city anymore. Based on the map, I know exactly where this will be located. You will still be able to see from the I-75, but it will be on the right side heading Southbound.
One thing is for certain, it will be a lot easier on those of us coming from Tennessee.

So all my neighbors are pumped about the Braves move.

Also apparently the GM plant in Doraville has contamination issues
