Julio average fastball in 2013: 91.5

Julio average fastball in 2017: 91.4

“Velocity dipping for years”

I’m not getting in the middle of this, but I was honestly shocked to see he averaged 91 last year. This year seems pretty drastic though. Wouldn’t surprise me to see that 89 drop some.

That might have been before his Padres start. He had one start (Miami I think) where he was hitting 90-91 that might have raised that too.

I admit he was bad last year and he gave up gopher balls but his velo was there. He still had his curveball. He still has some movement. But he’s not right this year. He’s not throwing his curveball at all. His slider isn’t tight this year. Either he’s completely lost it or he’s injured.

I’m dense? I took me two minutes to go on fangraphs and see Julio’s velocity was at 91.6 last year which was in line for his career norms and now he’s at 89 average.

Maybe next time do some fact checking when you didn’t even watch his start last night.

Thanks.
YES.

You are extremely dense if you think Julio’s velocity dumps are exclusive to this season.

Tristan Beck is a hell of a pickup in the 4th round

It’s so much fun listening to you root for a guy who takes the ball every 5th day hell or high water and pitches to fail. I guarantee he’s more hurt, not just now but at least a dozen times over his career, than mike soroka is right now. I’m cool with fun and games and his stuff is certainly diminished, but “protecting him” and “whining” are the same disrespectful bullshlt that started the Julio divide in this thread to begin with.

.

Edit not going to get into to it.

If he’s hurt then he’s been hurt for 3 months and he’s hurting his team by not addressing it.

I know he’s not old by any stretch but he’s pitched at the major league level for what, 7 seasons at this point? It’s not uncommon to lose a little zip. The issue is his command isn’t elite so as a result he’s not able to get away with it.

I was watching MLB network a few days ago, and Ken Rosenthal said he would be shocked if the Braves didn't make a splash trade before the deadline.

Starting pitcher or 3rd baseman I would guess if true

We are going to finally get Archer maybe

Ha there only one guy I want there and they’d be stupid to trade him. Snell and Newk would be hell

No doubt

I haven’t spent a ton of time on it cause I don’t want them going all in this year and I believe in the rotation guys we have long term but I feel like the SP market is super thin
