The Braves Thread

So think about this: The Pirates gave up their top prospect for Archer while the Braves didn’t give up any top 15 prospects for a guy with the same stats and just one year less of control.

I don’t know which 12/13 pitchers you take out of

Newk
Folty
Julio
Gausman
Anibal
Allard
Fried
Gohara
Touki
Venters
Brach
Winkler
Carle
Minter

But that’s a lot of ML ready options

This was freaking masterful. Made moves to help them team, inject a solid shot of morale, continue playing winning baseball without mortgaging a single piece. AA played “one year early to the party” perfectly
I said this a couple of weeks back but this was my biggest hope for the deadline, big picture of the organization this is about all I could have ever hoped for.

Poor Moylan man, just can’t gey that annoying forearm strain to go away

Yep... The Pirates blinked.

Like I said, you can trade Gausman if need be too. Will have two years control after this. He now plays with a good defense, a good staff that develops pitching, and gets out of a bandbox. He doesn’t have the upside Archer brings, but Gausman is an overqualified #4 at worst.

JCE also included which kinda sucks, but it's whatever.

He does not walk AT all and we keep Waters, Jenista and Pache.

perfectly is a stretch, but he played his hand very smartly and understood this is not the year to mortgage.

I’m not gonna act like missing on Archer isn’t a big deal. He would’ve been perfect.

This is basically the Meholm trade.

Would love to add Archer but give me Gausman/O’Day for JCE/Cumberland/Phillips/Zimmerman all day over Soroka/Swanson/PTBNL for Archer

Basically Archer would have required Soroka (top prospect with MLB success) and Swanson (former top prospect that hasn’t truly panned out) for Archer. No ****ing thank you

Yeah, paying to play only works (if you're doing it right) if what you get in return is actually worth the pieces you gave up.

Losing Encarnacion was the only mildly cringe-worthy name on the list... hopefully these guys fill some holes in the pitching.
