The Braves Thread

I agree.

But to play devils advocate- what holes and what upgrade is available?

Obviously have to make bullpen moves or call the kids up and let em loose

Yeah, a pen arm at the least and I still think Moose can be had for less that what everyone is expecting. I’m a Camargo fan as well, but I think he could play 3B,LF(Ronny to CF)SS,2B enough that he will play 3-4 times a week for whoever is struggling or needs a break. Only makes us better imo. These moves don’t break the bank but gives us more depth.

I’m cool with Folty, Newk,Soroka and Julio as the main 4, then re-evaluate this off-season.

Not really till the offseason. Camargo is more than capable and Riley is behind him. Ender is gonna stay. Acuña/Swanson/Albies/Free are the future.

Definitely need to upgrade the pen (with Herrera gone maybe Britton is he’s healthy?), but we aren’t gonna give up anybody major for a pen upgrade.

We will have a hole in RF after the season. Sounds like that will be the move. Maybe go after Realmuto in the off-season.

Also, my post was for mainly the off-season and beyond, even though I wouldn’t mind a move or 2 now.

Yeah I know I mentioned Hamels are a rental but with the improvements of Newk and Folty, along with the fact I think Soroka will be a stud, you got your guys. Julio still eats innings and has shown he still can have great starts, then Gohara/Wright/Fried/Toussaint in the timework of the next 1.5 years and really the rotation looks to be set.

I like JT, but I’m not spending on a Catcher. Let’s hope Willy Goat Contreras is the answer in a few years ha

The Mets are a complete debacle and I love it. I wonder if they are dumb enough to get rid of Conforto this off-season?

I’m a big Contreras fan actually. He’s like 10th in my prospect rankings.

I’m perfectly fine with Flow and Zuk this year but I believe both are FA’s after the year and nobody ready to take over in 2019 in the minors. If JT is not gone by the trade deadline I’d be cool making a move for him.

Me and Brown talked about this earlier but even though I’m good with the rotation I would be willing to give up A LOT for DeGrom.

The best part is we are ahead of schedule by a year. We don’t have to make a move. We could call up Touki and Gohora or Fried and Wright and use those as bullpen reinforcements if need be. Evan Phillips is chillin AAA and dominating. Allard is dominating lefties in the minors. Even if the Braves don’t make any big moves that’s fine too. Save it for 2019 if you want.

Houston has the best case and is definitely more proven, but not necessarily more talented over time. They are the only one I can think of off hand.

Houston was the only one coming to mind. What Verlander is putting up is stupid. Cole's numbers are great too.

He got off to a good start but.. he’s turned back into mike moustakas and mike moustakas isn’t all that great

Charlie Morton too. Verlander, Cole, and Morton all three are over 100 Ks for the season already, and Lance McCullers sits at 90. Keuchel is their only “question mark” this year, and he’s a former Cy Young winner who finished 14-5 with a 2.90 ERA last year. You have to figure on him getting things turned around at some point and stringing together some good starts. He pitched well in his last start.

That’s one heck of a rotation and would be tough to beat.
