Just a thought, but he might be our future left fielder/DH and backup infielder. Ozuna gone after 2023 and Duval will want to get paid somewhere. He looks like he's on pace to have the type of season Greene had last year. Grissom has a MUCH better BB/K rate and he's really starting to drive ball. I think it's crazy he isn't a top 100 prospect.
He's a tweener defensively. Don't think he has the range for SS and a bit of an inconsistent arm at third, but he's pretty athletic.
He’s going to be fine next spring either way but it would be excellent for his confidence to get a start or two under his belt going into the off-season. I still think he has time to provide 5-7 starts down the stretch. He has got to get back in the saddle this year man if not it’s gonna be bad news
He threw 175 innings and finished 6th in the Cy at age 21. He had a freak injury. There’s no “can’t stay on the field” or durability concerns at all to be honest. If he can't stay healthy, what's the alternative? I'd rather have him as a bullpen arm (potentially a good one) than a dude who tries to start and can't stay on the field.
Sure there are. During rehab for the first tear he had a setback on the Achilles that had to be surgically repaired, then tore the whole thing again. He threw 175 innings and finished 6th in the Cy at age 21. Matt Wisler went to the pen because he absolutely could not be a starting pitcher. Mike Soroka has offered zero evidence of such. It is a horrific take.Sure there are. Who is to say he couldn't pull a Matt Wisler and become a higher K guy out of the bullpen? He wouldn't be the first guy to do so. Wisler struck about 6 guys per 9 as a starter. Since he went to the pen he's upped that to 11-12.
