Speaking of plate approaches from the Albies discussion earlier, has Acuna changed his? Seems like the last few years, he hits a lot more scorching, seeing-eye grounders that find holes than he did earlier in his career.

Last year his GB% was up significantly because he wasn’t staying in his base. Everything was top heavy - could have been fatigue, pain, discomfort, lack of confidence in his knee, etc. One of the few RH hitters who was hit with a true shift.

The shift going away is going to be a good boost for him because when it hits it on the ground it’s to the pull side every time and typically smoked, but it’d be nice to get that GB% back down toward his career norms prior to last season.

Interesting. Seems like he is still just barely on top of everything except this year, he is getting a lot more solid contact.

To be fair, he probably hits some the most “valuable” ground balls given their location, exit velocity and his speed. I guess this would show up in BABIP but you’d have to back out fly ball percentages to re-weight and I’m not doing that, but I think the hope is that we start to see more XBH Ronald and less scorched single Ronald. Scorched single Ronald is still insanely valuable though.

It's just a matter of time before he gets the power stroke. Dude has to have 100% confidence in his knee back; already 6 SBs and 8 attempts in 13 games.
