The Braves Thread

Don’t come round here hardly ever any more but I made a horrifically poor financial choice and me and the 8 year old are coming in for homecoming next weekend. Anyone going to be there?

I won’t, but man you ain’t lying about the price lol. Hope y’all make special memories Noch.

*ducks head* I’m actually worried that Heupel cannot do anything other than stick to the scheme script and isn’t that good of an in-game coach *backs away slowly*

He has some warts. But who doesn’t in today’s college landscape?

There has been a massive seismic shift in college football and most are still thinking with a pre-NIL, pre-Portal pre-Saban departure mindset. He are 7-1 with wins over Bama, Florida, and Oklahoma. But we don’t look like a team that could knock off wins against those powerhouses because people think we should look like a Clemson, Georgia, or Alabama team from 5-6 years ago. Those teams don’t exist today and will be hard to sustain going forward. While we don’t look great, we are a top 12 (playoff) team easily and Heupel has us right where we need to be.

I also think your point is fair, and that we can probably bank on a South Carolina/Arkansas performance most years because of it. Overall, I’m not worried about JH at all

Take a bigger picture view. Heupel's "script" or M.O. before he got here was that he's 100% offense, and if he isn't scoring 35+ a game he's got no chance to win.

That was the case at UCF and the case his first year here, but it isn't been the case in 2023 and 2024. In SEC play this year we've scored 25, 14, 23, 24, and 28 points and won 4 of those 5 games.

You hit the nail on the head for one of my biggest portal related complaints.

In the past you could look at a handful of teams and see they're a cut above. Now everyone is pretty much the same. There are no dominant teams

Most coaches stick to their scheme. He’d added wrinkles this year as well. If we didn’t have WR’s running open and dropping the ball, I’d be more worried, but they’re open and they’re not catching it.

I’m pretty concerned with what we look like post Tim Banks departure tho.

Man, AA is really cutting salary for 2025. Again, I don’t know what he’s got planned
