So I posted this on the Cal board a little while ago:
" I just want to point out that UT has more than 4 offensive starters back. We have 7.
Tennessee actually ranks poorly in pass defense, and the reason we do is because of scheme. John Chavis, our DC, will do EVERYTHING to stop the run, leaving our 4 DBs in man coverage or weak zones. This puts pressure on QBs to make passes on the money. Can Longshore or Ayoob do that consistently? They have the talent, but they need to show it.
Tennessee's OL still has Ramon Foster. Malcolm Rawls transferred, and Rob Smith left school after a new OL coach was hired.
Cal's DL is very talented, but the only school in the PAC 10 that would resemble an SEC OL is USC. Mayyyyyybe Oregon.
It seems your LB corps has one stud (Bishop) and a handful of other guys who have boatloads of potential, but haven't had the experience to actually show it. Young guys, right?
Don't underestimate the return of OC David Cutcliffe. He's no Jeff Tedford in terms of offensive creativity, but he led some of the best UT offensive attacks back in the 90s.
In the end, I think it would be a little naive for a fan of EITHER team to predict a team to run away with this game. I think it comes down to the end, and QBs and ST will decide this."
I then proceed to be told I am drinkg Orange Kool-Aid, that I have East Coast media bias, and that I implied Cal shouldn't show up on Sep. 2nd. WTF?
