The cancel culture is getting out of control

For that university not to know that "Gator Bait" is racist is unthinkable. The profs knew, surely.
Using slave babies in gator hunting was a fairly widespread subject in minstrel shows in antebellum America and in ragtime music around the turn of the century.
A lot of this "canceling" is over the top, IMO, but "Gator Bait" definitely has racist origins.

No. I want to be able to buy a bottle of Aunt Jemima syrup and some Uncle Ben’s rice without some ****ing idiot calling me a racist.

I dont think anyone has been called a racist specifically for purchasing those products. But you are kidding yourself if you cant see the racial roots of “happy-slaves” fictional mascots. They are antiquated and past time to be rebranded. The products will still exist with the same crappy recipes full of sodium and high fructose corn syrup.

Regarding Paw Patrol: I’ve seen more from right leaning news outlets whining about it than actual calls to cancel the show or remove the cop character.

Not sure what the Taco Bell hubbub is about. Sounds more like a political motivated boycott than a demand the business shut down. That happens on both sides all the time.

You need to read up on the history of Aunt Jemima.

Please enlighten us if you know a story that isn’t about the character being based on the “Mammy” stereotype from minstrel shows.

I don't even understand what is racist about having Uncle Ben on the box? Are we now saying it is racist to have any black person represented on a label?

So something that supposedly happened in late 1890s is so painful today? How have you people not all killed yourselves by now. The misery you people must have, waking up everyday and getting triggered or offended by syrup, rice, a statue.
You guys just put yourself out of your misery

Why did it take 100 years to become offensive?

They make up everything that is offensive on the fly, all they have to do is make the accusation , no one is going to stand up or question them. I'm surprise rocky top has it been labeled offensive yet

I know the story of Nancy Green. Who overcame her own tragic history and became one of the first black, female millionaires in US history.

But, I get your point. And the larger point. So let’s just demolish the Egyptian pyramids, the Aztec Pyramids, the Continental railroad, the Hoover Dam, nearly every building and monument in Washington DC, etc that was built, either wholly or in part, by slaves, indentured servants, oppressed migrants/immigrants/ethnic minorities.

Let’s tear it all the **** down so you jackasses on the left can stop feeling guilty over the actions of people who aren’t around to justify their decisions.
