The cancel culture is getting out of control

I've been listening to a great podcast called The Knowledge Project, and one of the things I've picked up on is, at the abstract level, about dealing with the confirmation bias in our own decision models.

I am perfectly willing to deal with my confirmation biases. I've changed my mind on several things. But always, whenever someone from the left wants to argue, there's never ability to move down into the weeds. Everything stays abstract- 'it's just racist', 'it's unfair', 'inequality', and on and on and on. There's 'data' cited, but never explained or analyzed, alternative explanations are never considered, data validity and sources are ignored. Why is this? And why are so many of them replaceable with anyone else on their side? It's literally the exact same story from every one of them every time.

Anyone have any idea? It can't just be plain ignorance and stupidity, can it?

In before Bay calls white privilege.

In before Bay calls white privilege.
My point exactly. Never anything with depth. Nobody's even defined 'white privilege'. What's it entail? Does it apply across all white people? All white people aren't equal, so how does that work?

None of these questions are ever answered.

Hahahaja. A thinking man trying to rationally deal with the emotions of leftists / SJWs. Good luck.

I'm not trying to, I'm curious if there is any actual intellectual power on their end.

I hold the beliefs I do at least partially because I've been so turned off by their lack of insight and depth.

No, that’s exactly why they’ve moved on to things like “cancelling”. It works a lot better than having to rationally and logically explain yourself.

I guess it's to be expected from a group whose 'intellectuals' consist of Trevor Noah and the ugly British guy with glasses.

You’re in an argument using logic and reason against someone in a religious argument. Racism, inequality, social justice, etc, are tenants of the progressive faith. It ain’t gonna work. The progressive faith in the late 19th century was borne out of Christianity. They applied personal salvation and the betterment of one’s self to national salvation and the betterment of the nation. They’ve ditched the Christianity but none of the dogma.

Interesting.

Another thing I've noticed is that many of these woke leaders are early to mid 30s women with no children. I've thought for a while that they've taken the protective, maternal instinct they should have for kids and run wild applying it to 'society'.

NBCUniversal Deleting ‘Racist’ Segments from WWE Matches

NBCUniversal is methodically deleting anything it deems “racist” or “risqué” from past WWE wrestling matches for its new Peacock streaming service.

It’s just the modern equivalent of the temperance movement, along with the WOD.

Nothing screams “I’m a poon” like making this kind of statement
"Over the past few days, I have come to better understand the pain caused by the book I endorsed. I have offended not only a lot of people I don’t know but also those closest to me, including my bandmates and for that, I am truly sorry. As a result of my actions I am taking time away from the band to examine my blind spots," Marshall said in a statement.

Scholastic Pulls Captain Underpants Kung Fu Book for ‘Passive Racism’

Captain Underpants Author Self-Cancels Book for 'Passive Racism'

"The originator of that petition was not satisfied with the book merely disappearing from shelves: He also demanded an apology and "accountability" from Pilkey and a donation to "an AAPI [Asian American and Pacific Islander] community organization." In a statement posted to his YouTube page, Pilkey pledged to meet all of these demands."

"With this level of apologizing, you might have expected Ook and Gluk to be really, really racist—at least something comparable to the most offensive Dr. Seuss cartoons. As it turns out, the evidence of passive racism here is extremely thin. (The adjective "passive" was sort of a giveaway.) The person who teaches Ook and Gluk about kung fu is indeed drawn as Asian, and he does engage in various traditional Asian activities. If the caricature had been less accurate, would that have made it better or worse?"

I'm actively looking for works that mock hillbillies and my demands will be extreme

Oxford University May Scrap Sheet Music for Being Complicit in ‘White Supremacy’

The University of Oxford is considering proposals that would remove sheet music from its curriculum over woke claims that teaching the Western form of musical notation has roots in “colonialism” and “complicity in white supremacy”.

In response to widespread Black Lives Matter protesters and riots last year in the United Kingdom, music educators at Oxford University have joined the wider iconoclastic movement which has been sweeping through British academia.

Oxford University May Scrap Sheet Music, Complicit in 'White Supremacy'

Headed for the Dark Ages v2. Somebody should consider that life without life's necessities - like cell phones - is gonna suck.

Now you're just being obtuse. You know that traffic lights immediately change for us, checkout lines move faster for us, we're never victims of weather catastrophes, the NFL and NBA immediately grab up any white guy that can get 6 inches off the ground, cops look the other way when we speed by. There are literally thousands of things of things like this. I just can't believe you've never noticed.

Look at the bright side - they don't have kids. Then again, if they were ruining the life of one kid, they might not be influencing many more.

How is it not 100% and how many of those 64% came to this conclusion recently?

Many morality laws overlap with cancel culture, and we've had morality laws forever. The Mormons in Utah are trying to cancel porn and this fight has gone on all over the country, with freedom frequently sacrificed. The poll poses a theoretical question but it should be "Do you believe cancel culture has hurt freedom?

No, it hasn't. We need more of it.
