Literally over night, the speculation of a possible coaching change gained momentum as the BOR continue with their proceedings. As Bill Byrne wraps up his end of the year evaluations, much was said regarding his, and President Loftin's comments that they were to "evaluate this season's results, and look towards the future".

That comment allowed for a lot of message board posters to increase their level of speculation regarding the future of Coach Sherman. Beat writers in the area have reported conflicting stories of their own work and the common phrase being thrown around is "It's 50/50".

Unless contacts have already been made with a possible predecessor to Sherman, I would expect the announcement today to be that of a mere vote of confidence in the current staff with a possibility of adding an OC after the bowl games are completed.

Sadly, I think that since Thanksgiving night, those contacts have been made. Under the guise of a "National Search", which we are notorious for proclaiming we conduct, the next HC at TAMU is most likely preparing his team for a Bowl game.

Names like Sumlin, Smart, and several more are tossed around.

I assume that he will not be the HC next season, but will finish this year at the Bowl game. The price tag is $9 mil, and its damn costly.

This is where we stand as of 10:19 local time. No time on the announcement has been set as the meetings continue this morning.

Stay tuned.

Luicci reports: Sherman asked to return from recruiting trip. Asked to report to the Bright Complex. He is now in College Station. Sherman asked to cancel meeting he had scheduled with recruits this afternoon.
10:20 am.

The only thing I can confirm is that Sherman has returned to his recruiting trip and he has left College Station. Appointments cancelled from this morning will take place Friday now.

The rumor that President Loftin would be returning early from his Washington trip is false. There is no confirmation that he was asked by the BOR to cut it short and get back to town.

The buyout is going to keep Sherman at TAMU for 2012. Wonder what it is after next season.

How the hell did Mike friggin Sherman get an $8M buyout clause?

Patterson? I cant see him leaving them after what he's succeeded in doing and the facilities they have invested in because of his success.

I also couldn't see Patterson leaving due to the fact that his team is going to be in the same conference as TAMU next year.

TCU coming to the Big12 helped them in regards to keeping him. He'll get a legit shot at the big boy Bowls now.

Didnt want Sumlin to begin with. Not sure on Fedora. Looks like a, and pardon the analogy, a "Tennessee hires Dooley" kind of move.

Larry Fedora is getting linked with the North Carolina and the Ole Miss jobs as well.

Fedora's a pretty solid coach, I'm a fan of him. But yeah, it wouldn't be a fan favorite from the Aggie perspective

He's only been a head coach since 08. 32/19. CUSA. 49 years old.

He was born here though.

The folks at Navasota High will be pissed if Fedora comes here though. Lol at the Rattlers!
