The Consol Center Postgame Report.

They didn't box out like they should. My opinion. I thought they got tenative also because of the officiating, and there were some dumb fouls.

They were trying to figure out the officiating. Was it a 4 feet or six feet line that they weren't supposed to cross, when defending?

Too much whining on here about the refs. TN plays physical, get used to seeing the opponents at the line. At the end of the day, it was a great win.

Exactly. Watch how much, for example, Kansas State sends their opponents to the line. It's the price of playing physical, but it's well worth it.

It's on purpose. They've got Williams, Fields, Hall, Harris, Pearl, and now Maymon in the post. That's plenty of fouls to give, so they're telling the bigs not to be careful at all...if a guard beats his man, our bigs are to block and/or disrupt the shot, and not worry one bit about contact.

When an opponent manages to get by our perimeter defense (not an easy task this year), they don't get a layup or a dish for a dunk. What they get is either a blocked shot, a trip to the FT line, or they throw up some off-balance garbage.

Worst case for us is FT line, but we're OK with that, because we have plenty of fouls to give, and two FT shots is better than a free layup.

As an added bonus, the opposing guards tend to get frustrated and put up some ugly shots.

Do yall have anymore tough games before the Memphis game? I would love to see yall undefeated when we make the trip. Today we took the redshirt off a freshman big man Hippolyte Tsafack and Angel Garcia (6'11" reserve PF) left to play overseas.

Our next tough game is at Connecticut.

Homefry we have a couple of sleeper teams in between our game w ya'll.

Oakland and @ Charlotte this week
College of Charleston on NYE
and Southern Cal in early Jan.

We should win all of them but we can't just show up to win

I see what yall did there. Go ahead and sleep on us. Makes it easier to play spoiler.

I'm just messing with you. :)

Yeah, we've got a seemingly tough Oakland squad tomorrow, and then a rematch with a Southern Cal team that gave us a pretty bad loss last year. I don't see that happening again with the way the season has gone so far, but you obviously never know.

they were flat out awful. They singlehandedly made Wanamaker a better player.

You knew it was bad towards the end when the ref waited to see if the shot fell and when it didn't he blew the whistle. I just started laughing at that point.

Playing an Oakland team that just lost by 1 pt to Michigan State coming off a big win is a bit of a trap game. Greg Kampe does a good job with his team each season and has had some success. He is actually getting scolded for playing a "murderers row" schedule thus far. However, his team has competed in all of those games. Charlotte is garbage. Coll of Char. always has a solid team but shouldnt be a threat. USC has their one "surprise blowout" already for this year (#20 Texas by 17). Belmont lives by the 3-pt shot but a win over them already is good preparation.

I have to give Pearl credit, thats a fine scheduling job he did especially for a BCS team that will face a strong SEC east. The UNCC game turns out to be a bad RPI game but that was unforeseeable at the time.

Hopefully Yall can be 14-0 on the morning of January 5th but its going to take some continued good play, not many cupcakes on that schedule.

Game against Pitt was like going into someone's house on the other side of the tracks who you don't like and looks down on you; knock the crap out of him; point your finger at his kids and dare them to say one word and then kick his dog on your way out.
