Too much whining on here about the refs. TN plays physical, get used to seeing the opponents at the line. At the end of the day, it was a great win.
It's on purpose. They've got Williams, Fields, Hall, Harris, Pearl, and now Maymon in the post. That's plenty of fouls to give, so they're telling the bigs not to be careful at all...if a guard beats his man, our bigs are to block and/or disrupt the shot, and not worry one bit about contact.
When an opponent manages to get by our perimeter defense (not an easy task this year), they don't get a layup or a dish for a dunk. What they get is either a blocked shot, a trip to the FT line, or they throw up some off-balance garbage.
Worst case for us is FT line, but we're OK with that, because we have plenty of fouls to give, and two FT shots is better than a free layup.
As an added bonus, the opposing guards tend to get frustrated and put up some ugly shots.
