MMT proponents suggest governments could levy taxes to dampen inflation. That is exactly how the system works. Lenin was correct in his statement of how to keep the common man down. The US has actively been practicing this since the fed came back in 1913 and the US gov formed a little creation called the IRS.
People continue to look at what’s presented to them instead of what is the underlying practice.

The issue with your argument is this:

If counterfeiter takes out too many bad loans and fails he does not have a country backing him that will bail him out and then go after the innocent loan holders to collect the bad debts in the form of taxes.

In our current system if AIG fails we the citizens get the bill.

So this means banking is a very good business.

The bank can completely fail and screw its holders of every penny over 250k or it can prosper and keeping bigger.

Either way, it will succeed.
