Dream on.

Its not far fetched, however, I don't see it happening. And out of curiosity, as a Bama fan, what is your perception of the no buy-out clause in Sabans contract? I guess I should first ask if that is in fact true, or just another internet rumor...

Saban has several ties to the Dallas area and actually is friends with JJ.

it's hard to imagine an nfl team going after a college coach this year with gruden, cowher, billick, shanahan, holmgren, and dungy all available. (though i'm sure dungy wouldn't take another coaching gig after leaving the colts and i think holmgren would only be interested in a gm position.)

Holmgren's going GM, Cowher will probably end up in Carolina, Gruden's going to continue with ESPN for a while, I still think Shanahan to the Redskins is likely.

Billick maybe? Something about that sounds kind of off. Same with Saban, though.

If we make the playoffs this year, I still get the feeling Wade will keep his job. That's a lock if we actually win a playoff game.

My understanding is no buy-out clause in Coach Saban's contract. If a coach wants to leave, but is hindered by a buy-out clause, the situation could get awkward for everyone. It's likely best for all parties for the coach to move on, unencumbered by a buy-out clause, if that's what he wants to do.

Rationale for NOT having a buy-out clause:
1) See above.
2) Coach won't sign if a buy-out clause is in place, and the school REALLY wants the coach. :)

Shanahan to Redskins is already a done deal from what I've heard.

Don't be surprised if Meyer/Saban has their name mentioned for Dallas job if it comes open.

Meyer no. Saban Yes. I thought the Cowboys OC was next in line until Saban's name popped up.

Even if the offered, I tend to think Meyer would decline because I assume he knows his offense probably wouldn't be the best fit for the NFL.

Perhaps.

Meyer's said on numerous occasions he enjoys the college game and has no interest in the NFL.

Why would any NFL team offer big money to Saban when he's already walked out on an NFL team after deciding he liked it better in college?

Interesting piece I saw on ESPN.

In a segment on Colin Cowherd's ESPN radio show The Herd, Chris Mortensen said that Jerry Jones could have "some interesting surprise" in store as the Dallas Cowboys' next coach, assuming Wade Phillips does not return, as expected. "I think a Bob Stoops or one of these guys is gonna be in his discussion," Mortensen said, reminding listeners that the Cowboys won Super Bowls with former college coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer.

Mort added that part of Jones' thinking is that he has incurred a lot of debt in building Cowboys Stadium and may not want to write a big check for an established superstar NFL coach. (Though Mort then said that he was not ruling out Bill Cowher or Jeff Fisher from Jones' plans.)

There is another, non-Mort report on the 'Net that Jones will also reach out to LSU coach Les Miles, who is a former Cowboys assistant. It would no doubt thrill Tigers fans if Miles said yes.

I just don't think Fisher is going to leave the titans. He has been there a long time and I don't think their season is as bad as it was earlier on to warrant a firing. They are in the mix for the playoffs though it is unlikely. I don't think he leaves for dallas either. I guess what I am getting at is as long as the titans want him, he will continue to be cozy in Nashville.
