The current recruiting class

It makes me sick to see the talent we’ve had the last 2-3 years and how little was done with it. We had players that were better as freshman than they were as seniors due to horrible coaches and coaching! Hopefully PrUitT can change that quickly!!

UGA unfortunately won’t take much of a step back next year. Look at their schedule. It’s ridiculously easy. They could sleepwalk to a 10 win season.

ITs always easy somehow!! They finally didn’t muff everything and won a few games. Hope OK smokes them!!

Just ran class calculator on 247sports.

Dropped:

Litaker, Grant, Flint

Added:

Jacob Copeland, Quay Walker, Olaijah Griffin, Johncarlo Valentin, JJ Peterson, Coynis Miller, Eddie Smith, C'Bo Flemister, Jaevon Becton

That brings us to 23 guys total, and a projected score of 264.14. Still two slots to fill, will need a safety and other running back. For comparison's sake, that score would be good enough for 9-14 finish over the last five years.

We'd have 10 composite 4*s as well as 3 88+ level 3*s.

This coach wants to win... He goes after the top recruits in the country, rubbing elbows with Saban, Smart, and Dabo. You've gotta love it! Go Vols!!

He’s doing work for sure. Problem is that UGA is recruiting like Bama has in the past 10 years. Gonna be tough to hang, but at least we have a shot. If Butch was still the coach, we’d fall so far behind it would take a decade to recover.

for the most part even in the Richt years, UGA has always recruited like that, its impossible to not recruit well at UGA with that state's talent.

I think the Mizzu game last night exposed the SEC East for what it was this season: Historically bad. UT and UF both missing bowls! UGA is a paper tiger. I think OK gives them a beatdown.

OK may give UGA a beatdown but they are far from a paper tiger. They won the SEC title.

No chance we should even consider the possibility of dropping Litaker. He's talented and all Vol. Had a few injuries to recover from, but there isn't a question on talent. And even in "Star Gazing" he would be a welcome addition with a solid ranking. If I had to pick whether to bring Litaker or Jaevon Becton aboard - I'd pick Litaker all day. Hard to find a good DT to stuff up the running lanes while still pushing the pocket too. His skills are much needed at TN. We got gashed by the run quite a few games. No way in hell I'd consider dropping Litaker.

Wake me up when the VOLS become a paper tiger, cannot wait.

Not saying I wouldn’t wanna be where UGA is, but it’s a fact. The other two powers in the East lost their head coaches during the season and all of the lowly teams were just being themselves. UT just had it’s worst season in school history and shark humper was gone really early in conference play.

Tennessee has never been a hot spot for recruiting. Tennessee has to do more with less talent than our biggest rivals, and do it consistently. We do good, but not great. With the development of players not taking place under Butch, we were squandering all but the most naturally talented players in our region. With Pruitt, there should be no drop off in recruiting, but we should start seeing our players develop and playing good football, in the short term. After the Butch guys cycle out, we should have a great football team again.

I see this said on regular occasion. Didn't Coach O and (damned be his name) Kiff both say that they drew a 5 hour radius around Knoxville when they got here and that the amount of talent in that radius made it a recruiters dream?

I think they said it THIS YEAR too...not while they were here. Is it just fluff?

Good points but 12-1 and playing in the CFP is worth something. Hopefully UT makes it tougher on UGA moving forward.

Already has as many 4 and 5 stars recruits as last years recruiting class and what we currently have already committed would have finished 27th in the country last year.

This years partial first recruiting class by Pruitt will blow Botches last recruiting class out of the water. This staff is doing some great work.

What a wonderful turn of events in the last month.

Recruiting was not really the problem with Butch. He had a monster class put together this year. The problems were post recruiting.

The quality is great, but the positional focus is tremendous. We haven't seen this many quality linemen in a long time. And that is sad, but true. Now I want some linebackers! Good defenses start up front and then down the middle. You better have depth in those combat positions like LBs and safeties. It's been embarrassing getting run over by weak-ass opponents like Missouri and Vanderbilt because we have no quality depth up the middle. Frickin embarrassing!

LBS and CBs

Yeah our gap up the middle is almost as big as the gap between Nancy Pelosi's ears. Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell could plod side by side up the middle without being touched by our defense last season.

Top 8-10 class this year based on number of 4*s to total commits already. Actually are #6 based on that alone but 8-10 is completely more realistic how they’ll finish.

Sitting around 15 in Avg Star Rating, will likely finish about 15 unless we pull a few surprises

You know what I like? We are absolutely RAIDING California!

For us to be able to pick up and have serious interest from top notch recruits clear across the country is a huge sign of strength. We’re still Tennessee. Now we have someone who knows how to sell Tennessee.
