The Daily Show Competition??

It was not that bad. Plus comedy shows take time to get their groove and develop a personality. If you watch the first season of Seinfeld, it is awful. Completely differrent characters than what they ended up being.

Reminds me more of SNL's news..

The Daily Show is genius. Republicans just don't have that kind of sense of humor.

We do. It just doesn't come from the guy who produces 24 and is best friends with Rush Limbaugh....no humor in either.

I just don't see how you can laugh with all that oil, money and Jesus coming out of your mouth all of the time. :whistling:

The Daily Show is well done - it would be genius if they were brave enough to mock their own values and beliefs instead of just the ones they don't agree with.

Man, that was pretty rough!

OWB, you know as well as I do there are GOP hardliners that have a sense of humor.

We refer to ourselves as South Park Republicans!

So there!

:p

Surely to god they can do better than that it was painful to watch and the laugh track they kept playing I have a feeling CC DS has nothing to worry from this lame attempt of a humor show.

Agree 100%, it was completely unnatural.

You must not watch it on a daily basis. They don't hold back on Dems either. Mr. Stewart is an equal opportunity offender. Better balance on that show than say Hannity and Colmes....

It's true. I think the reason it seems to be far left is because Bush is a Republican and is a walking talking joke.

there was a cartoon, or "animated series", on recently called "This Just In". The writers had to be Libertarians. It was wickedly funny and took particular delight in skewering Ted Kennedy whenever it could.

Professor Mike S. Adams is also a very funny guy, at least his columns are. I imagine he's a real ball buster in the classroom.

John Stewart lost whatever respect I may have had for him when he showed footage of the President with crosshairs super-imposed over him. Hinting that Stewart thought it might be funny for W. to be in a sniper's sights.

Do you have a link to that clip? Do you have a problem with ANY president in a sniper's sights or just Bush?

I'm talking less Rep. vs. Dem. and more Left vs. Right. Their criticism is definitely from a left perspective and they rarely lampoon the core values of the left. However, they consistently lampoon the core values of the right.

I wish they were true equal opportunity satirists. Comedy rules over ideology in my book.

After searching, fruitlessly, I find out it happened when Craig Kilborn was the host of the Late Late Show. The only link I can find is here.

It's from 2000 when W. was a candidate, not President. I apologize to Jon Stewart for my fuzzy memory.

and yes, I do have a problem with any US President being shown in sniper's sights. I didn't like Clinton, but I'd never want to see him assassinated. I'd feel the same way if it were Gore, Kerry or Hillary. Not to sound too idealistic but I have faith in our system.
