The Dallas Cowboys football circus thread

My buddies and I argued this yesterday. The narrative is a bit different recently as Tomlin got to the playoffs with Kenny Pickett and broke down versions of Big Ben and Russ. McCarthy has prime Dak.

Also, Dallas is losing at home as a favorite, and his one win is against a sub-0.500 TB team. Pittsburgh mostly lost on the road as a dog. Tomlin did lay an egg vs Browns at home a few years ago.

They are close, but I see those distinctions as the difference in narrative.

Dak is nowhere near his prime. In his prime he was an above average runner.

He was 28-30 yo as a McCarthy playoff QB and a top 5 QB last year. Compare that to Tomlin going with bottom half, upper 30 yo Russ and Big Ben plus bottom 10 Kenny Pickett.

Maybe he couldn’t lean on his running as much, but he was still prime QB age and a top half league passer.

Dak's problem is he just doesn't have that extra that he needs come playoff time. He doesn't have the ability to carry the team if/when he has to. He struggles against good teams and roasts the bad ones, hence his stats. That may not be all on him, but he still does not show up big in the biggest games.

Well to be fair neither does the rest of the team. Last year we absolutely could not stop the Packers in the playoffs, our biggest rival just made them look like chumps in the same scenario. Too many times they just come out and look flat and not ready to match the other teams physicality. That's on the coach.

Well we can't blame McCarthy any more. He is gone.

Deion said he would not coach in the NFL unless it was to coach his sons. I don't see Dallas trading up for Shedeur and then drafting whatever the other one's name is later

Titans would be stupid (they are) to not consider a trade from Dallas if it includes Dak and picks

But if teams know beforehand that Deion is the coach and that Dallas  has to draft Shedeur, they will be unwilling to compromise. Dallas would aalmost have to give up everything to get him. And he is not worth it, regardless of who his daddy is.

I don't know. I know Jerry and Deion are buddies, but I can't see them wanting to work together as head coach and GM/owner. One of them would have to give in to the other on personnel and players. And I don't see either doing that. I don't see Deion being another yes man for Jerry.

Friday night news dumping your hire tells you even their own media team thinks this stinks.
Nobody else wanted the job it would seem. I have been a Coboys fan since the mid 70's and I just don't know how much more abuse I can take. I try and follow the Titans, but that is not much better. At least they are close enough I can go to a game now and then. Plus they are bad enough the tickets are cheap-ish.

Either you're a Cowboys fan for life or not. I choose to be a lifetime Cowboys fan since the mid 70's.

So if you're upset and can't take anymore of the Jerry Jones Saga then take your ball and go bandwagon another team. I heard the Commanders are accepting bandwagon fans..

Sad to see what a joke the Cowboys have become. The shiny toy selfishly clutched by an incompetent buffoon. Between this hire and Dak’s contract the Cowboys won’t sniff the playoffs for years.
